Same problem. Bose CineMate light went red and doesn't come back green even if I tried changing batteries and doing 5 step approach mentioned above.

If resetting this system and re-seating the interface (box with light) to the bass module doesn't fix this, you may need a new interface module. This sells for about $40-50 from Bose. If this is under it's 1-yr warranty, they should be able to replace this for free.
So just incase you haven't tried it: 1. Unplug the power cord from the bass module (sub-woofer) along with the interface module and wait at least 30+ seconds. 2. Re-connect the interface first- screw it in as tight as can be. 3. Re-connect the power cord, and try the remote again.
This is really the only solution, and it's exactly what their tech support will have you try. That's the one functionally weak point with that system, that little module needs to be adjusted and re-seated from time to time.

Bose Cinemate green led won't come on.

Do the same thing by unplugging the power, but also unplug the interface module (box with red/green LED light) from the sub woofer / bass module, and wait 30+ seconds. Plug the interface module back in first, and screw it in as tight as possible. Then plug the power back in and try the remote. This should fix your problem. :)
If this doesn't fix it, you will have to purchase/replace this module through Bose. (anywhere from $40-$60 if not under 1-yr warranty.) If you're still under warranty, it's a free replacement.

Bose cinemate will not power on. light stays red?

Make sure your system is not plugged into a surge protector. Sometimes a surge protector will foul the system up, don't know why. lol. I fought with my system for 3 hours trying to get it to work, then moved it from my surge protector to the wall and it came on. If that doesn't work, try disconnecting the receiver module itself, wait 60 sec, then plug it back in. If that still does not solve the problem, I would suggest calling Bose Customer Service..
