With the Black and deckers, I think you just take the blade off and turn it over. That wil direct the grass clippings down into the ground.

i was mowing in light grass and hit a tree root. the mower quit, batteries are fully charged. can anyone suggest a way to remove top cover? I suspect that i'm going to be confronted w/a printed circuit board with several silicon controlled rectiviers on it. I'm a legally blind ex electronics tech.

The first thing to check is your blades. If one is bent, it will never cut even. It happens a lot hitting roots, antbeds, etc. Mulching blades will bend easier than a straight blade. It's best to take them off and lay one on top of the other to see if they're bent.
