What sort of computer do you have? Is it a laptop or desktop? Many
laptops have this problem and it is quite widespread in laptops. The
crackling or humming noise could be a result of interference from the
mains power signal.
If it's a laptop, try running it on battery alone (take out the mains
power cord). My laptop has this kind of noise in speakers when running
on mains electrical supply, but it goes away like magic when I run it
on battery.
A more long-term solution is to buy a 'Ground Loop Isolator' and insert
it between your computer and the speakers/earphones. They are quite
cheap and you could get it for under £10. It removes all static noise
and you'll hear crystal clear sound.
check audio cables wiggle them around if no difference in sound check other inputs if they all crackle call for service it sould be under warranty probably in the speakers or the input board
You can possibly diagnose the problem by trying a different speaker,it does not have to be the same shape as the original but it has to have the same amount of resistance (ohms),radio shack might have one that you can try or one from a broken radio ,if you use one with different value it might not sound as loud but we are trying to see if you hear the static or is gone.You need to unplug the unit from the wall,remove the back cover and locate the speaker,disconect the wires and reconect the one to try then plug the set and turn it on,the antenna will need to be reconected too.Is the most simple test you can do without getting in too deep.Let Us know how it goes by a way of a new question or if you need more information.
