SOURCE: Battery charge

the battery is dead. that happened to me and i had 3 choices: 1)buy a new dvd player 2)buy a new recharable battery or 3)keep the portable plugged to the wall while i watch movies. i chose number 3 because i usually just use it at places plugs are available. but yeah, the battery is dead.

SOURCE: Vivitar DVR 550 camera not working.

I had the same problem and purchased a new battery to resolve the problem. I also purchased a 110v battery charger for the vivitar 550 camera and recharged to old battery.

SOURCE: my htc incredible s won't charge, I've tried

It sounds like the charging port on your phone is broken. This could have happened a number of ways. Either by dropping your phone, putting the charger in wrong, or taking it out wrong. If you call HTC(866-449-8358) and it is still under warranty they will probably fix it for free as long as it doesn't have any water damage(http://www.ehow.com/how_4479971_check-cell-phone-water-damage.html). Otherwise you could also get a new phone.

How do i know it charging

The DVR 508HD is a video camera, not a battery charger. As such it doesn't charge batteries at all. It uses three standard AAA batteries, either disposables or rechargeables. If you use rechargeables, they must be recharged outside the camera using a separate charger.

If unused for any length of time, rechargeable batteries lose their ability to retain a charge. Try it with a brand new, fully-charged battery. FWIW, I recharge all my camera and flashgun batteries monthly.

The camera doesn't NEED a charger. It runs on three standard AAA batteries, disposable or rechargeable. If you use rechargeable batteries then you must charge them using a separate charger, the camera will not charge batteries.

My camera has been plugged into the computer for 24 hours now and the battery still isn't charged. How long does it take to charge and how will i know when it is done charging? i have a Vivicam X029

The manual merely says "a few hours." The LED on the back of the camera lights up while charging and goes off when finished. Not all computer USB ports put out enough current to charge batteries. If you're using a hub, bypass it and connect the camera directly to the port. If that doesn't do it, try another port if available. If that doesn't do it, use the supplied AC adapter and plug it into a wall outlet.

Have you tried to see if the battery door is completely shut? This is usually the problem with many digital cameras with batteries. Clean the battery door and where the battery touches the metal of the door. Check to see if the door is completely flush with the camera body when you close it. I know for a fact that Vivitar cameras **** the juice out of batteries fairly quickly also. If you have the USB-cord provided with the camera, plug it into your computer and see if that holds a charge to your camera. If all else fails, call up Vivitar for further inquiry, your battery may be dead.
Good luck!

I replaced the batteries but the camera still comes on only long enough to say "goodbye" and shut off

Your problem may be due to corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and place them back in the camera and charge them. This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, the camera may have a problem that requires professional repair.
