SOURCE: mfc-665cw all in one paper tray

To get the paper tray out, remove the rear "door "from the all-in-one (and "carefully" lift the roller guide out of the way. Sometimes a finger works, but a pen is guaranteed to work. When the roller guide is out of the way the tray slides out verrry easily. When its not, the tray is nearly impossible to get out!

Note that the right-hand side of the tray has two inclined guide "ramps" that work as the tray is removed. Once you get the tray out place a "small!" amount of petroleum jelly on the rear ramp: works like a champ.

  • Remove the input paper tray and take off the output tray. Remove all loose paper from the input tray.
  • Step 2Pull out the paper support flap and unfold it to its greatest length.
  • Step 3Flip through the stack of paper before inserting it back into the input tray. Place the paper in the tray and adjust the paper guides so they press against the margins of the paper.
  • Step 4Ensure that the stack of paper is below the maximum paper line on the inside of the input tray. Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.

"No Paper: error on Brother 8870DW

    Hi ccswjk,

I have encountered this error before.
Printers have a sensor on the trays to detect the level of the paper in the tray. First try fanning the paper that you have in there. At time when the printer try to feed a paper and it has a hard time picking the paper up, it may display the no paper error message. Fanning makes the sheets of paper separate from each other making the paper pickup and feed process easier for the printer. And if there are adjustable levers around the paper in the tray, make sure they are snug around it. This helps the printer identify the paper size that's in the tray.

I hope that this solution I have provided you is as simple as what I have encountered. If not, the following link is the user's manual for the printer that you have. http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/BSC/public/files/dlf/doc002000/ALFB_UsaEngUsr_C.pdf

Page 19 contains the No error message troubleshooting, aside from what I already have provided above.

BROTHER MFC 8440 ERROR "NO PAPER"

Check the paper tray adjustable guides inside the tray; the guides need to fit around the paper snug, when re-inserting the tray if the rear guide is back too far the paper may be shifted towards the front of the tray out of range of the paper sensor so it thinks it's out of paper. I service HP LaserJet printers and most of the time this is the problem. Hope this helps.

Message keeps paper tray is full and it is full.

pull cassette out and look inside the cassette bay on the left side. there is a white gear that lifts up your paper. that might have come unseated. make sure its seated in right by pushing it back in. last but not least, make sure you don't have your rear paper stopper in cassette pushing paper too hard against the front of cassette preventing paper from raising up.

    No paper feed (brother MCF-440CN)

Had a similar problem with the MFC-885cw. Turns out that , if you have a photo paper tray installed which sits just above the main tray, you need to puill it all the way back towards you otherwise it blocks the paper feed. Not the best design feature I've ever seen.

    Paper Tray #1 error message

on your control panel, press "menu/set" "7" then "2". if your page count shows 288,888, you have a bad engine controller board. anything other than that count, most likely is a damaged paper cassette. there is a tab on front left side that is probably worn or broke off.
