Hi Elsie-
If you do not have the remote, you can change inputs by doing the following:
Changing inputs Inputs are selected by using a number of methods, depending on the model of your Sylvania TV. Switching inputs is usually accomplished by pressing the "Input Select" button on the remote. Each press will simply cycle through each available input on your TV. If no remote is available, the front panel has a button that matches the function on the remote. This button is located on the bottom-right side of the TV and doubles as the "Enter" button when accessing onscreen menus.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Sylvania MTS/SAP tv/vcr/dvd combo turning itself off

could be that either the dvd or the vcr are malfunctioning, usually it is the vcr that creates the problem. If you turn tv on and set vol to low see if you can hear the noise of the motor loading or trying to load, with out a tape inside. It may be a good idea to have a qualified tech repair it, these units are difficult to work on and further problems may come up if you are not familiar with the tv.

Brand new, connected to new cox cable box, video works great but no sound

if just running HDMI cable try adding audio cables too, check all your volume and mute settings in the system setup.
If you have audio on most channels, but have silence on some or all of your local network channels, you may have the Secondary Audio Programming (SAP) turned ON. Complete the following steps to turn off SAP.
  1. Press the Settings or MENU button on the digital remote.

    Result: The Settings screen displays.
  2. Choose from the following options.
If... Then... Disable SAPdisplays Press the Select button. Choose SAP Languagedisplays Use the left or right arrow buttons to choose the English setting and press Select. PREFERENCESdisplays Scroll to the Language option, select Audio, then select the option labeled Primary or the one labeled English. If the above quick fix doesn't work, there may be a problem with MTS, Stereo, or another SAP issue. Try the following:
  • Verify in the program listing guide that the program has MTS, Stereo, or SAP features.
  • Check to see if the MTS, STEREO or SAP light on the TV or VCR is on.
If the light is not on, try the following:
  • Push the MTS, STEREO, or SAP button on the TV or VCR.
  • Adjust the fine tuning on the TV set to restore the stereo or SAP.

Was given a big screen sylvania srt2432p with no manual. Can't seem to figure out how to enter anything from the manual mode to set channel to play DVDs. Handheld remote does not seem to work-...

Hello
Just get into this site from you can download the user manaul of your Sylvania Tv. I think that to select the inputs, you must have its remote control. If there is a "Meny" button on the front panel of your TV, you can select it. Just download the manual and go through it. It is absolutlely free download. OK.

We bought a universal remote to increase our access to cable channels. Some of the channels display the symbols S.A.P. and have no volume. How do we disable the S.A.P so we can hear the volume.?

S.A.P. Means Secondary Audio Program.

SAP, Mono, Stereo, Etc. You should be able to switch this from your remote. Even universal remotes should have this button to adjust sounds. Otherwise you need to go into the TV menu (not the remote) and change it from there. The only way you can change it on those channels is to switch manually. Happens a lot on these older TVs. No worries. Very common.

On many sets, the audio channel can be switched by remote control or through a SAP switch located around the tuning panel or "on screen programming." Usually, there is a setting labeled SAP, AUDIO SELECT, B-AUDIO, MTS, or MENU. By changing the setting, you should be able to select SAP. Not all TV sets are alike, so you might want to check your instruction manual for all the details.

Sylvania MTS/SAP TV.
I don't have a remote
I accidentally hit the ''menu'' button on the front. Now I can't get the TV to show anything but static -- like there is no signal coming in from receiver (either through input jacks on front or on rear. Menu gives various options, but none of them gets me back to being able to see the picture.

No sound on some channels, other channels fine

Your SAP/MTS function is most likely turned on. This feature has 3 modes: Stereo, Mono and SAP. Stereo and Mono are easy to understand, it's the SAP that can get you. SAP stands for Second Audio Production. It is used to provide weather, information or an additional language translation of a program. Some broadcasters simply transmit the mono audio over the SAP audio channel when the are not using it for other purposes. Other broadcasters simply do not use it, which does not give you any audio. Look on your remote for a SAP or MTS button. If you do not see one, look in your TV user menu for this feature. If you are using a cable box, look in the audio menu of the cable box. You are looking for something set to SAP... just change it to STEREO. I hope this was helpful.
