I have a 1950's wedgewood stove that I just purchased. I can not get the pilot light to light in the oven and the ember-glow broiler's pilot is lit and the ring lit once but will not ignite again.

I can not find any info on the model# N8368S-7. I am looking to find out how to repair the oven especially but both issues. And I have found no luck finding a manual either.

I thought my 1972 GE was old! You need to have it serviced by an elderly gas appliance technician. The pilot jets and thermocouples and hoods can be cleaned by you, but nothing else. It also needs testing for the gas pressure in your house, using an old liquid manometer and adjusting accordingly..

SOURCE: Oven will not light

Go to partselect.com and look for a ignitor.
When on this site... you will be asked to put in you model # which you will find in the drawer below oven.
This is a very simple project which should be about half hour to replace.
No electrical to turn off, no gas to turn off. Just a screwdriver, and the job is finished

SOURCE: Maytag stove model mes5552BAB. Display

When the display on units like this stop showing it is usually as a result of a minor problem from the control board. The control board is responsible for the display and atimes due to a power fluctuation an IC could get burnt and therefore affect the screen display.
If you have the technical know how you can trace the burnt out IC on your own but if not call an expert to check if the IC is one that can be replaced.
Although you might want to test to see that the unit is functioning so as to determine if the entire board is bad or its just the display.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

Hello,
Microwaves use a magnetron to emit the waves, they make a very characteristic (and loud) humming sound when they 'kick-in.' If it is not making this sound that's your problem. It is not a user-replaceable part so please take it to an appliance repair shop, or purchase a replacement (which will probably be the same or lesser cost than repair unfortunately.)

I hope that this will help in solving the problem....

While pre heating oven, heard a sort of explosion. The bake element was definitely broken. A new one was purchased, installed, but it does not heat up. The broiler also does not work, but stove top does....

i have seen elements short out and cause the main board to fail. if eeverything else works you know you have proper power , so i would say the board is bad

When I turn it on, the heating element glows, but there doesn't seem to be any gas flowing through. I checked the valve, and it's open. Does this oven have a pilot light that needs to be lit?

The glow you see is actually the ignitor, it has taken the place of the out-dated pilot light. It is likely that your ignitor is partially burnt out and the safety valve is not opening. A good bake ignitor draws just over 3 amps and the safety valve will not open until it reads this 3 amp draw.

If the glow you see is a dull orange, it is likely that the ignitor is bad.

20" gas stove: has pilot light in oven, oven lights but then after several minutes will turn off. do not smell gas after it turns itself off. Using 3/8" gas line. Please advise as to potential problems...

Hi,
The oven igniter should stay on constantly as long as oven control is calling for heat and not fade off. If the igniter is too weak and not pulling enough current it may not open the gas valve correctly and gas will be let out of the gas valve and not igniter.
The likely failure is a weak oven glow bar igniter. I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your range.

Hope this helps .

I have a kenmore stove whose burners wont light. oven works fine. burners will spark but no gas comes out. recently I turned off the power to the stove by turning the fuse off. what do I need to do to get...

If the gets give no gas then sounds like a Thermocouple, this is a device that allows the gas to come on after a period of time ensuring that the pilot is lit and heated up this thermocouple, once it heats it then allows gas to enter and ignite the main burner..hope this helps ,please leave feedback.

I have a 15 year old DCS 4 burner gas stove and oven. Slide in. The broiler stopped working today. Is it the broiler or the fan? How much are parts?

the likely cause is the hotsurface igniter has failed. not exactly sure how to check the part but you can check it voltage is getting to the igniter. if you have voltage, it's probably the problem.
