Question about Dryers

1 Answer

Remote UC7080T is no longer turning off the fan part of light/fan Model K900606. Have tried new batteries, turning circuit power off and on; nothing works. Please advise.

Fixture is a 6LT CHROME DRUM FAN/6-13W CFL/REMOTE. It is three years old. Earlier this morning the ionizer came on by itself. Could not turn it off. Then a few hours later, on its own, the high fan turned on by itself and the ionizer went off. Lights work with the remote

Sounds like the remote receiver units (located where the mains connect to the fans) took a surge and have failed.

SOURCE: remote control

in the remote and the fan the little blue box is called a dip switch
you will have to open fans base to access the remote power sender
on both the fan and remote the dip switches have to match in order for the remote to work the fan properly
or your signal will never make it to remote box

The remote for the ceiling fan has 4 switches inside the battery compartment- look there. I had the same problem, turns out that when I replaced the battery one of the switches was inverted by mistake. Now it looks like 1 and 2 on, 3 and 4 off - and everything works.

Unfortunately, you either have a faulty reciever or remote. A replacement will cost $30-$40 at home depot. And it doesn't matter which is faulty because you can't purchase them seperately anyhow.

SOURCE: Lights flicker when turned off by remote

I had this same problem with a Hampton Bay fan with a remote light switch. I call the manufacturer of the of the switch and was told that the model switch I had would not work correctly with CFL bulbs. The problem is with the dimmer function. You either need to change the bulbs to incandescent, or change the remote receiver in the ceiling. Hampton Bay was kind enough to send me a new receiver that works with CFL. The CFL units are white, and the incandescent is black. Hope this helps you.

Dwayne, Try a new battery in remote, if that does not fix, replace your remote, replacements can be found at the larger hardware stores, eg. home depot, lowes, etc.

How do I get the fan to work using the remote ? All buttons (even the fan buttons) only operate the light, and only the upper light at that. Battery was low. Thought that was the issue, replaced with

First of all, that's a low-end fan made for Home Depot only! Did the remote come with the fan or was it an add-on remote. If there are any pull chains on the fan & light, then it was an add-on remote. If there is a reverse switch on the fan, then the reverse on the remote transmitter will not work. Probably need a new receiver.

I have a Hampton Bay Miramar 60 in ceiling fan, when you try to turn it on the upper light just blinks and nothing else happens. You can't even turn the blinking light off. HELP!!!

Turn off the breaker that controls power to the fan. Remove the batteries from the remote and press the buttons in case one is stuck. Reinstall batteries or new ones. Turn on the fan breaker and try using the remote again

try turning off the switch/circuit breaker at the main lighting panel. Then just turn it back on. Worked for me.
I'm guessing a capacitor in the remote is holding a charge and causing the problem. You'll probably need a new remote soon thiough.

How can i switch my fan to reverse? Its a Hampton

There is usually a slide switch on the side below the motor.

I don't believe any of them reverse from the remote control.

Fan and remote not working

If you haven't already done so, replace the remote's battery with a brand new one . Make sure the replacement battery is NEW AND UNUSED, AND WAS PURCHASED RECENTLY, SO IT IS FRESH. Make sure it is installed properly, making good electrical contact, and the proper polarity is observed. Was the remote dropped, sat on or stepped on? Was a liquid spilled on it? Did your pet chew on it? Are any of the buttons loose or stuck? If the remote seems ok, try removing 120 volt power from the fan by turning off the circuit breaker or fuse an your homes main electrical service box. Wait 30 seconds, then turn 120 volt power for the fan back on. This may reset the speed control in the fan unit. If it does not cure the problem, consult a professional electrician, or replace the fan, whichever is more cost-effective.

wait 30 seconds and turn 120

Remote to fan won't work

This is a known problem with the remote receiver in these fan units. There is a TRIAC that controls the dimmer function (part BTA08-600C) and is attached to the metal bracket sticking out of the yellow plastic receiver housing. When this fails, the light is on all the time. You can buy the replacement part from Newark electric (www.newark.com) for 83 cents. If you aren't good with a pencil soldering iron, get someone to replace it for you. Takes about 30 minutes.
