SOURCE: Need to replace the surface light in GE JVM1490BD 003

Bulbs can be had locally in most grocery stores, hardware stores, home improvement centers, and big box or department stores.

Or you can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

You must not touch halogen types with your bare skin, as the oils will shorten the bulb life.

Changing interior light on GE jvm1790

1. Unplug Oven
2. Unscrew 2 screws on top front of oven
3. Pull of front vent (might need a little force the
first time but not to much or you will crack
plastic)
4. Unscrew screw facing you near the front that is
attached to metal plate on bottom of opening
behind the vent.
5. Pull out metal plate (box) carefully not to
damage any wires.
6.Bulb is in this metal box, pull out old one and
press the new one's prongs into holes (be
careful and gentle the bulb breaks easily,
don't try to pull it back out to see if it's all
the way in or you will most likely pull a
prong out of the bulb)
just firmly press bulb
into place.
6. Screw metal plate back in place.
7. Plug in oven and test bulb.
8. Unplug oven again and put vent back on with
the 2 screws.
9. Plug in, set clock and your done.

The first time I opened it up was to look for the bulb. The vent needed a little pulling to come off. The second time (to put in new bulb) it came off easier and whole thing took about 5 minutes.
Hope this helps.

How to change the bulb in a jes1288sh02 ge microwave oven

You'll need to remove the outer cover (wrapper) to get to the bulb.

Always unplug a microwave before removing or installing any bulbs.

See these links before proceeding:
http://www.microwavedisplay.com/safety.txt
http://www.microwavedisplay.com/disassembly.txt

The screws you need to remove should be pretty obvious, but a special driver (such as a T20H type or GTXH20-100) may be needed.

Be sure to put all the screws back in the right holes, since some may be special grounding screws.

You can find an exploded view showing the the lamp assembly (location refer# 280) here.

You can order the lamp assembly by entering your full model number here. It is part # WB36X951.

Replacement bulbs still do not work

Most electronic control boards have undersized circuit wires that can't handle a catastrophic lamp failure. The circuit trace will open like a fuse. If you or someone knows how to use a soldering iron, this can be repaired.
1. Remove the top grille. (Two screws on top)
2. Remove screw above button panel. Push up on panel to remove.
3. Remove circuit board from panel. Look on reverse side for open circuit trace.
4. Repair circuit trace...lights work again....

GE microwave interior light bulb replacement.

Your post has two distinct model numbers shown, so it's hard to be precise, but I'll try my best.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383

I have a diagram at my site which helps you find & replace many GE cooktop and cavity light bulbs. Other models are similar. It's at

Always unplug a microwave before removing or installing any bulbs!

If it's an over the range type, remove the vent grille across the top and see if bulbs can be accessed there.

There may be a panel on the bottom covering the light(s), too.

If not, chances are you'll have to remove it from the wall, then remove the outer cover.

Many models use halogen lamps. You must not touch the new one with your bare skin, as the oils will shorten the bulb life.

If yours is an Advantium type, the following instructable should help: http://www.instructables.com/id/SZFF4WSF44XYT8X/?comments=all

GE MICROWAVE

Dear Carluc

Right for this one, it is essential that you unplug the oven from the mains and leave it to dissipate any electrical current certainly for 6 hours. Once you have done this, you wil to get yourself a phillips head 6mm screwdiver and unfasten the screws on the back that hold the casing cover to the chassis. This will expose the enternal components, then all you simply need to do, is find the lightbulb, unclip this from the holder and then replace it with one of the same make and model. Fitting and re-assembly is as straightforward as it is taking the unit to bits.

go to http://www.google.com and type in GE Microwave lightbulb........this will get you the details about the bulb, and use the same google search to get your service sheet/ disassembly guide. Easy as 1,2,3.

Hope this works for you and please contact me here if you need further assistance in this or any other matter that is of a technical nature.

Yours sincerely

Is the Advantium Mod: SCA1000HCC03 the same as the SCA1001SS?

They are indeed the same bulb, a 10W halogen. Care must be taken not to touch the lamp, as the oils from the skin will shorten its life. In many recent models, the oven must be removed from the wall (a two-person job due to safety concerns) and the cover must be removed. The manufacturers consider this a "technician-only" type job to lessen their liability. You can find helpful exploded view diagrams of both ovens and order the bulbs here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383
