Need to get a replacement cartridge, most are ceramic and the slightest scratch causes leaks. Not repairable I'm afraid.

SOURCE: replaced a moen cartidge and now the water is not hot in shower

make sure when you turn on the hot and cold shut off valves all the way and turn the moen on after that. Some times I would get that problem if I turned one(either hot or cold) off then tried the shower.

hi... yes that's a very common issue with moen "cartridges" -- it's very simple to fix..... grasp the handle and give it a gentle tug upwards when the water is on... if it retracts again, pull the handle out again and tug again but this time a bit harder. Not sure what causes this on new cartridges but it will fix your issue.

SOURCE: replace the cartridge for a moen shower

It is stuck, they come out very hard and a puller is made to make removal easier.

There are two O rings in the spout body that need to be replace with new and lube the
new O rings with vaseline. If your water is too hot, this will dry out the O rings. Normally
your hot water shouldn't be more than 120 degrees F. You can check this by holding a
thermometer in the stream of water with the hot on only.

Grohe has a lifetime warranty on them. I have taken many Grohe's back to the wholesaler
and they just give me a new one, no questions asked.

Hansgrohe PB shower cartridge (brand new) passing water thru cold side with valve turned off. Six-year old cartridge replaced the other day. Removed side filters and cleaned. O-rings ok. Applied silicon...

What is the model number of the unit in question? What color was the old cartridge in the valve and the new cartridge that you replaced it with? If no model number do you have any pictures of this valve/trim in question? It could be that you got the wrong replacement cartridge or something is not properly aligned within the valve. Feel free to contact me direct at Hansgrohe. I'd be happy to help. 1-800-334-0455. Press 2 for tech and ask for David. Or email me at [email protected]

I have a Hansgrohe interaktiv shower panel. The shower head keeps dripping. I have had a handyman change the washers and clean the filter. The dripping stops for a week or a month then starts again

After eight years of service it is likely the cartridge has worn out. The Interaktiv shower panels use a ceramic cartridge that do not have seals or gaskets that can be replaced. You will most likely need to purchase a replacement shut off diverter unit through your local dealer or online dealer. If you need help with part numbers feel free to call me at Hansgrohe 1-800-334-0455. Press 2 for tech and ask for David Scarborough.

We have a 20 year old tub shower single valve. We replaced the brass cartridge with a plastic cartridge and water is leaking out of the front when the water is on. Do we need to replace it with a brass...

I'm not now nor have I ever been a fan of the plastic moen replacement cartrideges. I don't know if they still do but probably about twenty five years ago I tried using a few of the plastic replacements, mostly due to high cost of the brass moen factory ones I think every one leaked. Then I actually read on the instructions that it was not unusual for them to leak some. My suggestion is to get a good brass moen magnum cartridge and be done with it for another twenty years. Hope this helps you. Thanks.

Facet leaking

Hi,
You can purchase a replacement cartridge for that... most hardware stores or places like Home Depot or Lowe's will have them. Take in the old acrtridge or the model of thefaucet. Some of them need a special puller to get the old cartridge out..

This sounds like a bad cartridge. They can be replaced. To replace the cartridge:

Turn off the water to the tub/shower.
Remove the handle cover (it should pop off)
Remove the center screw (usually phillips head)
Remove the retaining clip holding cartridge in - you can use a pair of long nose piers or a small screwdriver
Grab the cartridge with a pair of pliers and pull straight out. It may require a little force - there are O-rings around the cartridge to keep it from leaking.
Check the cartridge bore (the hole where the cartridge was removed)
Clean any debris or scale - lime away or CLR will work
Apply a little bit of soap around the new cartridge to help it slide in easier. Push it all the way in and make sure it is seated. Re-install the clip (you should have received a new clip with the replacement cartridge)
Turn the water back on a check for leaks
If OK, reinstall the knob screw, and cap.

Let Mom take her warm shower...:)

You need to pull and replace the cartridge on your shower valve most likely. It varies by Make and Model, but generally, remove the handle, remove any sleeve around the center spine, remove the round trim plate, close the service stops, remove the retaining clip or ring, and pull the cartridge straight out of the valve body by pulling on the spline... or get a cartridge puller. Then take your cartridge to the store and get a new one. Flush the valve body by slightly opening both service stops and then install the new cartridge and reverse the process.
Generally this problem occurs when sediment has torn part of the sealing o ring on the cartridge. If you send me the make/model and/or a picture I will give you the specific instructions
