If it keeps doing this I feel that it could be a bad sensor.

More than likely it is the thermo couple.
It is a small tube at the end of a thin copper line.
It typically mounts in front of your pilot flame. The copper line runs back to you control.
When heated by the pilot it tells the control valve that there is a fire thus allowing the gas to flow to the burner. It is a safety feature to keep you from filling you house up with unburned gas.
When not functioning correctly it stops the gas to the burner.
You should be able to pick up a replacement at any big box or hardware store.
Some have different mounting styles. Best to remove the old one and take it with you.

The unit has replacement parts such as motor & motherboard so I would presume there is access from the rear of the unit and once open you can either drop them in or gain access past the decorative backing.
