Eee 1005ha keyboard and touchpad suddenly freezes at random times

My keyboard and touchpad suddenly freezes and I have to reboot. I am using eee pc 1005ha. This happens randomly at different times starting last month, I think. Please help. I hope this isn't a hardware problem.

Mine does the same. I don't know what it is. It's not that it's frozen up because every program I'm running continues to run and when I press the power off button it brings up the choices to turn off restart or stand by.

Hi patodonovan
If you can afford it try to buy an USB keyboard and use that one instead of your laptop keyboard .It will be much reliable too especially if you play or type a lot .

Eee pc r101 keyboard not working properly. Some of the keys won't type the correct letters and type the function letter or symbol instead or just random numbers. Also the touch pad and mouse click is...

The keyboard takes a lot of abuse and as durable as it is, they will eventually wear out. It is a very inexpensive part to replace and does not require a lot of skill. The fact that the touch pad is acting up could indicate that they are interconnected. I would replace both. The Touch pad is a more involved part to replace and I would suggest you get some help or pay to have it replaced.

You can order them off of sites like eBay, then watch a YouTube video on how to do it.

Cursor occasionally jumps sporadically when typing. Any suggestions

If your mouse pointer is randomly moving on the screen, that's probably because you're brushing up against your computer's touchpad while you type - it's a common problem. You'll get used to avoiding it over time when you type.

One option is to attach an external mouse and keyboard to the laptop, thus avoiding the touchpad altogether. Not practical, obviously, if you're using it in your lap.

Another possibility is to reduce the touchpad sensitivity - try going in the Windows control panel, then the Mouse settings, and see what options are in there. Hope that helps.

Hi and welcome to Fixyah,

All you need to do is to bring your laptop to your reseller or bring it to Asus tech support because the warranty for the parts and labor is 1yr.

You are more or less likely suffering from the effects of too much spyware and adware. I recommend running AD-Aware, which will scan your computer and quarantine any adware or spyware it comes across.

Keyboard freeze

If it's new just hang on tight to your receipt and pay extra close attention to when the warranty expires!
