SOURCE: Kenmore Elite Dishwasher Problem

The dishwasher should have a thermal fuse mounted to the control board behind the operator console4.gif. It is a small silver colored device4.gif attached to a white plactic bracket. In some model dishwashers the wrong gage wiring was used causing the wires to heat up and trip the thermal fuse. There was no apparent risk of fire or anything like that, but the thermal fuses didn't tolerate the heat differential too well. A fix for the problem was to purchase a thermal fuse replacement kit (found at most appliance repair stores) that had thicker wires. The part number for the thermal fuse kit is 959376 and the price is $16.85. You can find it at repairclinic.com. Order on line and have the part shipped directly to you. Now...to access the control board perform the following:

1. Turn off the main breaker to the dishwasher. This is important. Even though the dishwasher is not running, the control board still has live voltages present.
2. Open dishwasher door and remove the top screws that hold the console in place. You shouldn't have to remove the lower screws unless you plan on removing the entire door panel.
3. The control panel should pull off from the front enough to where you can access the control board. There is a thermal fuse mounted on the board with two wire leads going to it. The fuse is silver in color and mounted to a plastic bracket which is mounted to the control board.
4. Cut the wires on the old fuse and splice the new fuse kit to it. Leave plenty of wire to accommodate. There will be instructions included with your replacement kit. Ensure you follow the direction thoroughly and tighten the wire lug screws securely.

NOTE: Do not attempt to reuse the existing wires by simply unplugging the old fuse and replacing it with the new one (been there). The fuse will eventually blow again. Follow the instructions provided and you can't go wrong.

If you have any further quesitons, or if you run into trouble during your repairs, let me know. Good luck to you.

PS If you do not wish to order on line, take the part number I provided you to any major appliance repair shop4.gif and they SHOULD have the part available. This is a known problem and a common fail item.

SOURCE: Whirlpool Oven Control Panel Thermal Fuse

If the display is totally out it is likely the thermal fuse this is located where the wire connectors plug into the board it looks like a small resistor in a platic shrinkwrap type sleeve. test it with a continuity meter.

SOURCE: how do I acess the control panel

Open the door and remove the top screws connected to the console. Close the door (not locked) and flip the console down toward you. Remove the control cover to gain access to the control board and the thermal fuse.

SOURCE: how do i test a thermal fuse

A fuse is tested using the continuity or resistance (ohm) setting on a multimeter.

Disconnect the power to the dryer. Disconnect the leads to the fuse. With the meter set on continuity, the meter should beep - if you set to ohms, you should read 0 ohms across the terminals of the fuse. If you read infinity, the fuse is bad.

Kenmore elite dishwasher stops mid cycle

I assume you mean it stopped in mid cycle and is now dead. If this is the case you will need to turn off the power to the dishwasher and remove the screws holding the front control panel There is a thermal fuse clipped to the front of the control panel Check it using an ohmmeter or continuity tester If it is open you will need to replace it with a kit containing the fuse and wire connectors Do not replace just the thermal fuse the problem will surely return. Also inspect the control board for burned areas. If the control board is burned you should replace the wiring harness with the control assembly

Kenmore elite 110.7703 no heat

Hi there

From the model number it seems this machine was made by Whirlpool for Kenmore. The thermal fuse is on front bottom near the blower wheel.
a) Pop open the front panel.
b) Then remove front door panel by removing the two secrews
c) Remember to disengage the door switch wiring
d) you will see the thermal fuse near the blower compartment.
e) If thermal fuse is burned out then it should not have continuity on OHMS scale on a multimeter.

Kenmore elite, model 110 60952990,stopped working after I tried to dry a pair of sneekers. It doesn't do anything when the power butten is pushed. Thank you.

The thermal fuse (part number 3390719) is blown causing the motor not to run. This thermal fuse is located on the blower housing beside the thermistor (part number 8577274) and it is wired in series with the motor thereby cutting power to the motor when it fails. The failure of the thermal fuse is due the failed thermistor; these requires both the thermal fuse and the thermistor to be replace.

Access to the thermal fuse and the thermistor for replacement or testing requires the removal of the lower front access panel which is secured to the front panel by two retaining clips positioned about three inches away from the sides. Pry the clips to release it and remove the lower front access panel. The thermal fuse and the thermistor can now be accessed.

Using a volt-ohmmeter, check the continuity of the thermal fuse which is to the left of the thermistor. Replace the thermal fuse if it reads open together with the thermistor.

Remove the mounting screws and mount the new parts in place. Disconnect the wires from the old failed parts and connect it to the corresponding component. Reinstall the lower front access panel back into position.

My 2006 kenmore elite dryer wont turn on

The F40 code indicates a communication problem between the main machine control and the blower motor control board. According to your symptoms, it is likely that this problem is being caused by a blown thermal fuse. I recommend the thermal fuse for continuity.

Unplug the dryer before accessing this component. Access this fuse and pull one wire off. Measure the resistance across the leads of the fuse using a volt/ohm meter. You should measure near zero ohms of resistance (continuity) if the fuse is good. If you measure infinite resistance (open), then the thermal fuse is blown and will need to be replaced.

NOTE: If the thermal fuse is blown, check for a restriction in the exhaust vent to the outside of your home. This type of problem will cause the fuse to blow.
You can order a new thermal fuse from the Sears PartsDirect website. The part number is 3390719.
This should fix your dryer problem.

No power suddenly on the control panel... kenmore elite model 665-1374/665-1384 Worked one day and not the next. Breaker is on, no blockage at water line... connections all tight. It's only 14 months old!

Kenmore dishwashers should be recalled!! Their poorly designed computer circuit boards are all malfunctioning around 15 months. Look on the inside top of your door. Do you see a instructions? There should be some about your Heat Dry button and holding it down for 4 seconds to reset your computer board. Read and try it first. It's like rebooting a computer.
