Steps:
1) Reset the stitch and width settings back to the settings before the malfunction began.
2) If it's computerized, try 'rebooting' by turning the machine on and then pulling the plug from the mains.
If the 2 suggestions don't work, you may have a broken gear.
The best thing you can do is call customer rep of Singer and talk to them about your concern.
Your reverse button is stuck. Try this before going to a professional. Unplug your power coed. 1) Place the stitch width to it's widest. 2) Remove the top cover. 3) Spray a little penetrating oil (wd40) behind the reverse button. 4) Start pushing the reverse button until it freely move. Might need a long flat head screwdriver to push the reverse button from the inside out.
Solution: Turn off machine. Turn stitch dial until you hear click on each stitch shown on dial. Set to straight stitch then and set stitch width to 6. try machine again being careful to put light force on the foot pedal so your not going full throttle. This is how I "de-confused" my Singer Heavy Duty 4423 when it got stuck on reverse. Hope this helps! Jimmy
The Singer Contempra 930 is almost a mirror image of the Singer model 1425. Only difference is placement of Stitch length & Reverse Stitch dial and a variation of the Rear Thread Guide. You can download a free pdf manual of the Singer Model 1425 from www.singerco.com.
The large knob in the center of the stitch length dial is a button, push it in to reverse stitch. Hold in as long as you need to reverse stitch, then release to resume regular stitching.
