Its very difficult to explain exactly how the cable fits into the carb spindle however the mistake people make is they try to fit the cable into the small hole in the spindle, this is not correct, the cable fits through the back and into the large opening in the spindle

SOURCE: throttle cable

This advice is not model specific, but normally you would remove the air filter and access it that way.
Usually the actual fitting of the cable to the carburettor is pretty fiddly; sometimes it is easier to remove the carb, to do it.

SOURCE: installing throttle cable on Husqvarna 445 chainsaw

Try blocking the throttle arm on the carburetor in the wide-open position with a small stick, then deal with the trigger mechanism. In order to remove the cable from the carburetor, you need to remove the carburetor itself, then unhook the cable end at the throttle arm. Keep track of which fuel hose goes where if you do this. Hope this helps!

SOURCE: My Husqvarna 40 chainsaw does'nt

If there is no spark at the plug it is going to be a replacment ignition unit, there were two different units, an Electrolux ( emab ) unit, and a Phelon unit, they are not interchangable, so you need to get the correct unit.

I have a 1988 husqvarna 45 chainsaw need help with attaching the throttle cable to carb. Maybe a picture would be great

Sorry do not have a picture however the double bend in the cable does not go through the hole in the throttle spindle. it sits into the large opening in the spindle it looks a little odd when fitted.

When i start the husqvarna chainsaw 350 it will run wide open. I put a new carb, and it still does the same way. What is the problem?

using a strong flashlight inspect the little brass blade down inside the carb (could even be the one you took off) if it allows light to shine thru it to other side , your throttle stop is misadjusted ( AKA idle screw) , its the little Phillips head to the right of where the throttle cable is connected , speaking of throttle cable if that isn't set to proper distance , it will falsely hold open the throttle blade as well , ck that cable is in the proper end holders All the way !!

Hi, I am trying to purchase the air filter element for my Husqvarna 40 chainsaw. It appears to be just a foam insert profile but it has disintegrated. Cannot find replacement part.

This filter was only used on the early 40 ( 1985/6 ) it was part no. 506014801, there was a retro fit kit so as to fit the pent nylon filter from the later machine, it consisted of the carb plate, the carb back plate and the filter, the throttle cable outer was secured in the carb back plate, and not in the carb plate as on yours, all of these parts are still available, let me know if you need part no.s to convert it, try the web for the original foam filter.

MY HUSQVARNA 136 CHAINSAW WILL NOT IDLE DOWN. IT RUNS AT HIGH SPEED AT START UP. IT CAN BE SPED UP BY PRESSING THE THROTTLE BUY IT WILL NOT IDLE DOWN.

This sounds like a sticky throttle cable.
Check that it's route is un-inhibited.
Though, the cable itself may be freyed, and thus in need of replacing.Happy and safe chopping:)
