Ok whatever kind of 2006 Yorur driving I don't know, but there could be a heater control valve again no vehicle ,feel your hoses at the heater core if 1 is hot and the other is cold when your first warming up the engine the heater core is clogged ? If both hoses are hot check the defroster, heat, mix, vent settings to make sure the controls and vacuum lines are connected on the heater case and that you have the multiple settings
if its the stat then you will need a 13mm socket and ratchet with extension to remove the bolts that hold the stat housing to the motor. a drain bucket to drain the cooling system below the level of the stat, remove stat and clean surfaces on both the housing and motor. install the new stat and gasket reassemble in reverse order and refill the cooling system and run engine to operating temp and make sure all air is out of system.
Check the complete venting system inside the dryer and to the vent outside. Be sure and check for lint & god knows what around the blower wheel. Get everything 100% clean. Insert a thermometer into the vent coming out of the dryer with the vent hose off. Start the dryer on high heat & see if it will go to not over 180% and start going lower like 130% or so if it drops back it's ok . If it don't stop & go down cycle thermostat is most likely bad. The reason it won't start for an hour may be the motor gets too hot. You could put an ohm meter across the connection on the cycle therm and heat it with a small torch or something & see if it will show open after heating. Just a guess lots of things cause these problems. Clean that motor too. Lint may cause it too run hot.
Sounds like your heater coolant hose door flap is broken or loose. May want to check behind the heater controls, if your components are mechanically operated. If electronically, may need to perform more troubleshooting before replacing this component.
I do not know your definition of "way too hot". Remove the exhaust vent and insert a accurate thermometer in the dryer exhaust. Run the dryer on high heat. The temperature should get up to 165 degrees then cool down to about 125 degrees then back up to 165. If it goes above 165 and stays there replace the high limit thermostat. If it cycles correctly it is OK.
If your getting heat out the vents, the coolant is full, the upper hose is hot and the lower hose is cold that the t'stat is not opening.
If both the hoses are hot, the coolant is full, and you feel the fan pushing hot air than check the front of the radiator for debris build up. If there is no debris than the radiator could be plugged internally or the cooling fins may be severely rotted.
If the coolant is full, there is no heat out the vents and the upper hose is hot/lower hose is cold the water pump is not circulating enough coolant.
Try locating the heater hoses. Start with the vehicle cool and turn it on and wait till the engine temperature reaches the correct temperature. This should send fluid through the heater hoses. Feel the heater hoses for a change in temperature. If there is no change in heat after a while the problem is in your thermostat. If one heater hose is hot while the other is not than the problem is in the heater block. If both hoses are heating up then the problem is probably in the climate control knobs or wiring that controls the blend doors or may even be the blend doors are broke and are not opening correctly to allow heat into the vents. This could also be a problem if the ac does not get cool either.
Is it blowing hot air out the vent?. I've seen something like pencils , lint or about anything clog the fan and won't let it turn. The vent must be clean going to the outside of the house. You can take the vent tube off at the dryer and see if it helps if it does out side vent might be cloged.
The operating thermostat might not be cutting off power to heating coil soon enough and getting hot enough to blow fuse. Check all thermostats and any one time cutoffs a one time fuse. Don't know what type dryer or model number you have. When you ask for help always give the name and model or your machine because they are different.Hope this helps.
follow your upper hose from the radiator to the engine the thermostat should be thereat the end of the hose usually two bolts are holding it in loosen 2 bolt and see what way thermostat is facing cone into head or into hose take out and boil in water see if the spring retracts if it does the thermostat is not bad its something else
