THERE IS A VERY FINE VERTICAL LINE FROM TOP TO BOTTOM OF MY SCREEN. THIS CAME ON A FEW DAYS AGO AND DID NOT INVOLVE ANY NEW PROGRAMS. THE LINE HAPPENS TO BE PURPLE IN COLOR AND STARTS ABOUT 1/5 OF THE LEFT HAND EDGE.

Your lcd is bad,this is common with most Imacs .A faint line will appear from top to bottom then it will multiply over time.Apple had moved to a different manufacturer after a number of incident similar to yours.This is also happening on the G 5 as well.There fix is to replace the Lcd the Inverter and the Lcd Cable.

Its a hardware problem with your monitor, and it most likely won't go away. If its a laptop and its really bothering you, you can have the LCD panel replaced for $500 or more.

Apologies, my reading skills are lacking apparently. In the case of this particular desktop you may find you can replace the lcd panel yourself. Ebay has a selection of different sizes of replacement panels, and the monitor will either unscrew from the back, or pop apart from the front.

It is going to be a lot of effort for the magnitude of the problem.

LG plasma 50 inch tv with a fine vertical black line in the center of the screen that runs from the top of the screen to the bottom

Try changing the input device to something you are sure works. Switch off TV manually, switch off power, remove plug and retry after 48 hours. If problem persists, please refer it to a qualified service technician.

Samsung HPR4272X/XAA has 2 black bars going from top to bottom.

I really do not know there is the "Stuck Pixel Fixer programs" I think that Program Breakdown another IC. For this issue is absolutely the Plasma display panel have problem. You shall exchange it.

Vertical red line through screen

This is a problem within the screen, probably the connection from the internal ribbon connector to the display. Unfortunatly the only way to repair this is to have the screen replaced.
