SOURCE: flame sensor on a goodman heater

The flame sensor will be located either left or right of the burners and there will be only one wire leading to it. It is positioned so the flame hits it last. So if you watch your flame spread, it will be on the side last to see flame.

SOURCE: weak flame in intertherm furnace

Ok, so we can rule out the ignitor. (standing pilot systems can develop problems that will cause such symptoms.)

Check the gas pressure, make sure you are getting 11 to 14 PSI.

You need that after the regulator all the way to the manifold.

Also check for cracks in the heat exchanger, causing the wind from the blower to distort the flame pattern enough to cause improper contact with the flame sensor.

Make sure the burners and flame channels are clean of rust, and dibri build up, allowing the flame to properly contact the sensors.

SOURCE: Where is flame sensor on my old oil furnace?

Thanks for your question,
The flame sensor eye is located just under the transformer, it is looking straight down the burner assembly to where the burner chamber is at, you will have to remove the entire assembly to get to it, first make sure the power is off, remove the transformer, then remove the entire burner assembly from the furnace cabinet, once removed you can see the flame sensor window, use a clean oil free cloth to clean it, it would probably be a good idea while you have it out to replace the burner nozzle, as over time they will clog, I hope this helps you fix your oil burner, let us know and rate this please, thanks again,

SOURCE: flame rollout sensor keeps tripping

The flame rollout sensor is a rather important safety feature that ideally only trips when there's an overtemperture outside of the combustion chamber. I'd encourage you to get a better quality tech in ASAP to check for a cracked heat exchanger, gas overpressure, restricted airflow (changed the filter lately?), maybe a blocked condensate drain if this is a high efficiency furnace. If the sensor was replaced and it's still tripping, you've got a potentially dangerous overheating issue that you don't want to try to bypass.

SOURCE: gas furnace, main burner ignites the other 2 don't. then shutdn.

Between the burners is a small rail in the pressed steel where the flame runs across to light the other burners and it sounds like there is dirt or debris in the step over rails causing the problem. You will need to use some compressed air on those rails to clear them out. Once the rails are clear the other two burners should ignite right away.

Where is the flame sensor location on a Rheem RGDA-075C-ER Gas Furnace made in 1991

Flame sensors are always located directly in the flame, as it leaves the burner/in shot. The flame comes directly in contact with the flame rod/sensor. It's usually near the last orifice on the manifold, farthest away from the gas valve.

Does the furnace stays off?.
Furnace are ment to cycle on and off because of limits .If you set to 70 furnace would cycle several times before reaching that temperature.
Just make sure your filters are clean and you got proper return air flow because lack of air flow will cause furnace to shut off sooner than normal

First, for those of you who might not know, "What is a flame sensor?" A flame sensor is a safety device. When your furnace's main burners ignite (light Up) the flame sensor picks up the heat from the furnace's main burning and says, "YES," and sends a signal back to the main furnace control board saying that it is OK to let the main burner stay on. Or if the main burners do not ignite, the flame sensor does not pick up the heat and says, "NO" to the main control board, Shut That Gas Valve and Main Burners Down! Thank God we have safety controls like the flame sensor. Most of the time, after turning your furnace's power off, you may clean the flame sensors with light sand cloth, emery cloth or steel wool. Reinstall the flame sensor and you are back in business! Over the years flame sensors can build up a light coating of burned-in dust and dirt. This insulates the flame sensor so that it doesn't sense the heat of the flame well enough, so by cleaning it you have almost restored it to its new condition. Seldom, but sometimes they do go out completely.

Intertherm gas furnace

It appears your furnace is a downflow furnace. The sensor will be located near the bottom of the furnace. When you first turn it on, you should see a red glow.....this is the hot surface ignitor. Normally, the Hot Surface Ignitor is located on one end of the burners and the Flame Sensor is located on the oppoosite end of the Burners.

There are a few things it could be like the ignitor or the flame sensor is where I would start if the burners ignite then the ignitor is okay if they lite and then turn back off then the problem could be the flame sensor. The flame sensor you can take the flame sensor out and clean it with a piece of sand paper or emery cloth and it should sustain flame.

Goodman Furnace Lights But Won't Continue to Run

The flame sensor is dirty. You can not see the build up on the sensor but enough build up will change the resistance and the furnace thinks there is no flame.

To clean the sensor, first you need to locate it. it will be a sensor located in the path of one of the flames. Once you locate the sensor, open the bottom panel to turn"off" the furnce. After the panel is removed, unscrew the sensor from the frame above the jets. Use a clean rag and gently wipe the sensor several times. Place back in the cut out and close the lower panel.

The furnace should cycle on and the flame stay on for the normal cycle.
