Try to stand outside wit the radio in a spot where you are most likely to have proper signal. Then try to rescan channels.

u may have bought a lemon with a tuner problem.

Constant usage of DAB should not cause it any damage ever. The dropouts are very characteristic of a poor signal reaching the DAB tuner, as digital is either there, or not there, nothing in between.

Check the aerial connection if any, the rod antenna if any, and try moving the antenna (whatever it is) to a better location, usually higher up, away from thick walls, and away from speakers if any.

I just found my manual for the Sharper Image SI785 CD/Radio Alarm Clock with Sound Soother. Had misplaced it for quite a while. Am not saavy enough to know how to post it online, but if anyone needs one, just email back your address and I'll be happy to send it.
