SOURCE: Ice maker not dumping ice
Make sure the freezer is at least 17 degrees or colder (colder is better). If you have a square cover on the end of the ice maker see if you can pull it off and press on the gear face (don't turn just press). That may clean the electrical contact springs and get it working again. Basically if ya got water, 17 degrees or colder you will get ice. Other than that the ice maker motor module is likely bad (broken gear, etc.). Pretty common.

SOURCE: Ice maker flooded the house
how much water we talkin here a cup or gallons?? the icemaker will only call for water after dumping cubes,SHOULD at least, if only a cup of water or so id say the ice maker has an issue and needs replacing(its an entire module), there is a valve behind the machine energized by the ice maker, if htat got stuck open in which case water continued to flow overnight i would repalce both ice maker and valve

If water keeps running to the ice maker all the time even when it doesn't call for water , the water valve for the ice maker is leaking(located in the back of the refrigerator, bottoom right),but if overflow only when it calls for water(no more than 7 seconds) the problem is in the ice maker control board, you can replace it but it will cost almost as a new ice maker.

I have had a similar problem several times. What I have found is that the ice tray coating has begun to flake off. Then, the ice sticks or partially dumps. Next more ice builds up and when the valve opens the water runs over the partially emptied tray and spills into the bin making "icebergs". The remedy is to replace the tray or if that is not possible, then, the whole icemaker. In fact, I have one down stairs to put in tomorrow. They don't seem to last more than about 4 years or so.
