Perhaps you should try to clean the lens of your cd-rom with a cd cleaner or clean the cd that you are inserting to your cd rom...

Sorry but no, The SC-152A is a read only CD-Rom drive not a burner. You will need to get an IDE CD-RW drive to add to you system to be able to burn disks. If you are going to get a drive the price difference between a CD-RW and a DVD-RW drive is very little so you might as well get one that will also burn DVD disks and the CD disks. You can get a dirve at www.newegg.com for $23 plus $2 shipping that will do just what you need. Is the CD-ROM drive on a separate cable on the second IDE controller on the desktop motherboard? Then the jumper setting can be set to Master or Slave if no other drive is connector to this cable.
If the CD-ROM is also on the first IDE controller and IDE cable as the hard drive then the jumper setting on the CD-ROM must be set to SLAVE because the hard drive would be jumpered as MASTER.
Check the BIOS setting to see if the CD-ROM drive is detected.
If the CD-ROM still does not work after you checked and configured the CD-ROM drive, then is is faulty and needs to be replaced.

your problem is very clear... your cd-rom is corrupted.. install new windows... NOTE-do this only if your cd drive is NOT displayed in my computer..

It sounds as if either the power cable on the back of the drive has come loose, check first before going further, if that is still connected then the most likely scenario is that the drive died. You can pick up cd or dvd burner at any computer store for around $30 max. Hope this helps.

You could try going to the device manager, remove the drive in device manager, reboot the computer. If you still can't read with it, it likely has an internal problem in the drive.
