SOURCE: distorted sound on CD

Sound is distorted when the media is not being read properly, try cleaning the lens, tip : burn the cd's/dvd's at lower speed.

When connecting AT-LP120 Audio technica turntable to Onkyo stereo receiver TX-8140 I get distorted sound - the turntable came with set cables installed to connect. How do I resolve this problem

hi,

instead of plugging your turntable into "phono in" on the amp just try a regular auxilary input like aux ,video, or cd. sounds like the turntable output isnt like the old ones and may be just a regular output.

Hi Denni, the TV should not be a factor. Is the CD player connected to the receiver. It should be playing out the receiver speakers. Thank you, Onkyo USA

CD sounds jumpy, missing segments of the song then the CD resumes. Cleaned CD's but it continues to happen.

The problem is in the laser pickup assembly, overtime the laser becomes weaker until it can no longer track the disc properly. The only option is replace the assembly, "very expensive" or purchase a new cd changer, "much cheaper option"
