There is a button on the socket where I plug the smoker in that resets the socket
When you say reset the socket do you mean, you have to reset the breaker for the circuit that the AC plug is on, because the breaker has tripped? If that is the case, that means that the smoker is shorting inside and drawing too many amps.
Edit; can you be more specific what you mean by reset the plug?.
Edit: if this is an outdoor socket then it is likely a Ground Fault Interrupter socket (has a button on it called reset) > if the GFI is tripping it means your smoker is shunting AC power to ground (and possibly to the metal body of the cooker - which is an electrocution hazard.
Same advice applies. Stop using it ASAP.
As far as what is shorting, at a guess it would be the heating element. but please do not continue using / testing it until it has been fixed.

if u have downloaded any music of limewire or a torrent u could have downloaded a "infected" file so u need to update your firmware because it is probably "buggy" so it needs to be replaced.
if u dont want to update to a newer version AKA, 1.1.5,2.1.1 and 2.2.1 then u need to downgrade by downloading a firmware from a clean website and then when u go to refresh u have to do this.
1) download new firmware.
2) plug ipod into comp.
3) push and HOLD SHIFT click RESTORE.
4) a menu will pop up and then it will ask u to find the downloaded firmware hopefully u downloaded it to desktop and click the downloaded firmware and click OK.
5) it will restore and it will say restoring new firmware. so on and so forth..
