I have a fortress 2000 scooter and I have a problem with the brakes. Currently when I press the lever to drive forward or reverse the scooter does not stop automatically when I release the lever and continues to roll. When the scooter comes to a stop the brakes then engage. Hopefully you can help me. Thanks. Mike

Hi, you throttle pot (wigwag) is either not dead centre or the spring used is not returning the throttle lever centre,

can you see the slot at the end of the throttle pot stem?

it should be dead centre to you when you sit on the scooter .

SOURCE: little gem mobility scooter brake not working properly

The throttle part has slip round, a way to test this is to put hte buggy in reverse slightly and it shoud stop, meaning that how much the throttle has slipped round. Take the top cover off and there should be a allen screen on the throttle stem, undo and readjust.

SOURCE: 1700 Fortress Scooter won't go forward or

Hi. Has the machine been in regular use before the fault occured? You say that the brake is in brake release mode, this mode is only ever used if you need to push the scooter by hand. It releases the brake on the motor, and also operates a switch to disable the controller from driving the motor. It does this because it would be to dangerous to drive the scooter with the brake disabled.
Move the lever back to its correct position. If it still does not work, then the disable switch might be faulty, or it might be a different fault such as a stuck brush in the motor.
Is this machine produced by shoprider ( Phisang ) of Taiwan.
Please let me know how you get on. Neil.

SOURCE: Fortress 2000 scooter The horn will

The horn problem is due to stuck up horn button.Push on the horn button a few times--this may dislodge a stuck connection inside and horn should stop.-------- But if that is not helping the horn button panel has to be taken out and its wires needs to be disconnected, cleaned and reconnected properly. There are two wires. When you press the horn button both wires gets in contact and you hear the horn, when you release the button, the circuit breaks and horn stops.--------
----------- If the scooter is turned on when the brake is released, the scooter will not operate. To operate the scooter, remove the key and move the brake release lever to the "Engage" position and then re-insert the jack plug key. (It is not sufficient to simply engage the brake. The brake lever must be engaged when the unit is initially powered up.) --------- Also inspect the brake release lever is not got stuck.--------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

My Go-Go scooter when I put the lever and drive and I turn the key on and I hit the switch forward or reverse it will not move and does not beep either

Scooter won't move when I press the throttle lever?
  • When the manual freewheel lever is pushed forward, the brakes are disengaged and all power to the motor/transaxle assembly is cut.
  • Pull back on the manual freewheel lever, turn the Travel Scooter off, and then back on to return to normal operation.

Scooter won't move when forward/reverse engaged.

From:

Engage the freewheel lever
- allows you to operate the mobility equipment with the standard controls.
Disengage the freewheel lever - This unlocks the unit and allows the wheels to spin freely. You can easy push the equipment without power. This is especially helpful if you run out of battery power and need assistance.

Hi. How many beeps between pauses? This is a fault code.
A couple of problems might cause this fault. Is your free-wheel lever in the correct place. These levers operate a switch, that tells the controller that the brake is disabled, this stops the controller from driving the scooter with out brakes.

Might also be caused by a stuck brush in the motor. This is usually caused by the caps that hold the brushes in, not being tight enough. Check the brushes, make sure they slide in and out smoothly, retighten the caps. Be carefull because these caps can crack easily.
Good luck. Neil.

I have a milan mobility scooter, turn the key & it sounds a low

Hi. This sounds difficult. I have had a few scooters move slowly forward or in reverse, but not both. Normally if the speed pot ( wig wag ) is not exactly in the central position, they can do this.
It is possible for a scooter to have your problem, if the speed lever is binding or rubbing on the housing. Normally the lever is returned to the middle by a spring around the speed pot shaft. If this spring is loose or broken, then this could also cause the problem. Sometimes a small spot of oil or grease will help.
To check the speed lever is in the middle, slowly move the lever for forward untill you hear the brake solenoid release. Now release the lever and slowly pull it for reverse untill you hear the brake solenoid release. Make sure that the speed lever moves the same amount for forward as it does for reverse. If not adjust it with the key off.
If you get the machine to drive properly, then change the controller to see if it is OK.
As for the beeping, a lot of machines will go into an error mode if the speed lever is not in the central position when you turn the key on. This is a safety precausion.
Good luck. Neil.
