Here is a picture of the coils whirlpool dryer model LGQ80000JQ4 starts to heat - 57d5263.jpgThis The coils are mounted to the gas safety valve, This should solve your problem. Whirlpool electric dryer LER5620KQ1. won't heat up timer does not advance

Same problem with my Whirlpool Dryer: Model LER4634EZ2 which stopped heating. I checked the coils that was "OK" then I checked the fuse that was "OK" I replaced the Thermal Fuse and High Limit Thermostat then after starting the dryer the heat came on ... problem solved NO.... the dryer just kept running and running until I opened the dryer door. Not going to put 70 or so $$$ into this 10 year old dryer which up until 12/15/2011 worked fine.

GE DCXR463EA1WW that has stopped heating.

Probably a bad heating element. Sometimes one side will burn out before the other, so it takes a lot longer to dry. Then the other side burns out and it won't dry at all. Usually thermostats last longer than elements.

When I start my dryer, I have heat at first, but it shuts off after a short time for the rest if the cycle.

It sounds like you have a gas dryer . The coils on the burner valve need to be replaced . They get hot from the electricity going thru them , and one opens (shorts ) until the dryer cools down . It should then heat again for a few minuted , then stop heating but still run . Your timer will not advance either , if set on auto , unless dryer heats . Without the model number , cannot give you the part number , so take it with you to get the part . It comes with both coils in a pkg .

Whirlpool dryer WED5530SQ0, heats but does not run

So,. basically your drum doesnt turn. SO your getting heat still even though the drum isnt turning. Is this right? Sounds strange??? Do you hear any humming noise when you push the start button? I need to know a little more about the problem because im kinda confused as how you decribed the problem. Iv never seen a dryer heat but the drum not spinning. especially your model dryer. Its electric heat right? because if the drum doesnt spin, maybe your motor is bad. and if your motor is bad, then your heating element wont heat up because the centrifical switch in the motor is not switching to complete the circuit to the heating element. So this is why im confused when you said" Dryer heats when knob turned but when "push button" pressed, drum doesnt run." Because your belt wraps around the motor pully and the motor is what makes the drum turn. Like i said, i never seen this model dryer heat with out the motor operating. So if you can give me some more info, ill do my best to help you out....Thanks!!!!

Dryer runs when first started, quits halway through drying cycle.

High temp. limit is probably at fault and will need to be changed.

Whirlpool Gas Dryer - Model LGB6200KQ1 Serial # mm2105815 Heat comes and goes. Can heat fine for a few loads then stops. Then starts again. Any ideas

Sounds like it is running Hot, Clean you venting out and make sure the weather hood outside is not blocked.

Vacuum out the lint filter area.

Your dryer also may have worn seals, how old is it? 10 to 12 years running a load a day average? it may be time for a new dryer or rebuild yours.

Dryer is running but it's not hot

If the electronic start is not working, it may need to be replaced. Call an appliance parts store and ask some specific questions to them about how you can test that component and if they carry a replacement for your specific make and model. Good Luck!
