There is a powerful spring in the hinge, and if your oven is like mine, it has pulled the part that goes into the body of the oven, tight to the door. This spring is powerful enough to break fingers, so be careful. When I have had this problem, I have used chopsticks or a wooden wedge to hold the hinge part open in order to get it into the oven. Next time, look for some catches in the hinge mechanism that you can set, before you pull the door off, to stop the hinge from snapping closed.

SOURCE: oven door does not close

I had the same problem. The first time the Tech. came out, put a new hinge in and it held until Nov. 07. ( 8 months ). Then the left hinge brakes when I opend the door and it crashes to the floor. Bending the right hinge and the metal doorliner. Jan.7,08 everything was fixed. On 1/11 after no more then 10 openings & closings the hinge broke again. This time I heard the crack of the braking metal after opening the door 2 inches. It now sits in my kitchen propped-up with a stick, waiting for the repairman. I am sorry I have no solution , but there must be a problem with the hinges. I forgot to tell you that it started with a door that did not close, like yours.

We just had to fix ours. There are some videos on youtube to give an overview of clip types.
On ours, we pulled the upper long hook down to the lower hook, then slid the clip lock into place. It then looks more like a one-piece hinge unit. Tip the door back into place, lift up to the horizontal metal piece, then slide the clips back to the open position(tis did take a screwdriverto push them back)-so the two pieces become two pieces-once inside the door frame again.

SOURCE: How to put oven door back on after removing!

Although very tight (because the oven is only 1 yr old) i managed to get the hinges into the open position, then slide the door into position on the oven and close the door. The hinges did go back and lock as they should but I struggled for almost 30 mins before success.

I have a Miele H4250B oven in which the door hinge is broken. I have the replacement part, but I am not sure how to remove the old hinge from the oven

I have the same model Miele and ordered a replacement part. I have 2 Miele ovens side by side, and a door hinge on both ovens began to malfunction. I ordered and received the hinge , but when I started to install it, I found that the hinges were fine! The issue was that the 3 screws that hold the hinges to the oven frame came loose. One of them had fallen out on each of the doors, they had to be jiggled in order to close properly, which was not satisfactory. The ovens were installed 13 years ago by the original owners.

You will need to slide the oven out of its enclosed space and unscrew the sheet metal siding in order to gain access so that you can unhook the coil spring attached to hinge. I found that one of the small machine screws has fallen out on the 2 malfunctioning hinges. Once the spring is unhooked, you can align the hinge to screw it back in, and tighten the other screws that hold the door hinges. The screws on the other side has also become loose.

Kenmore oven door fails to lock

1. Remove the pan drawer
2. With someone holding glass up, remove the four screws at the bottom of the door that hold the glass front to the door frame. Gently lower the panel about two inches until the side guides are below the door trim cap. Place out of the way so it doesn't fall over etc.
3. Keeping the door closed, use a spring puller to remove each spring from the hinge. (I made one out of a hanger and a screwdriver. Double thickness at the hook, wrapped and secured around the screwdriver to make a handle) If you do things this way be VERY careful. Be sure it is really strong and is not going to slip. The springs are really under tension and will shrink down about an inch from where they are hooked. (Be sure to support the door so it does not fall open when the springs are removed. It will just make things worse.)
4. After the springs are off gently open the door all of the way.
5. Pull down the hinge locks from the oven body and lift the base of the door up. This will lift the door hinges off of the mounts in the oven frame and allow you to pull the door away from the body.
6. Place the door on your box or workbench etc
7. Remove the two screws on each side of the door that hold the hinges in place. Remove the hinges.

Reinstallation is in reverse.

Hinge repair.
By placing the lower part of the hinge (by the axle) against a ruler I was able to see that the upper section was bent out on each hinge. To correct it I placed the hinge over a pair of 4x4 blocks so that it curved up in the center, and hit it a few times with a hammer. The metal was very responsive and quickly bent back into shape. Be careful here as you don't want to bend them too far. I actually went a little past true, wanting to get a little more push at the top of the door. I placed the hinges directly on the oven to see the difference and they looked good (Be sure to put a piece of cardboard or rag between them and the top to keep them from scratching the surface.

Put the hinges back in the door, screw it together and hang it back on the stove, replace the springs and the glass, and check your fit. Good luck.

I have preloaded the replacement hinge, but it appears that to remove the old hinge it must be unloaded. If that is true, how do you load the new hinge while it is on the door?

Ovens come in many varieties including freestanding units and stacked models that are inserted into a wall. Kitchen oven units that get a lot of use or are getting old may have problems develop, such as a loose or squeaky door which may require replacing the hinges. You can replace the hinges on the door to your oven by first removing the door from the rest of the oven.
jQuery('.intro .thumbnail').each(function(i,e){ jQuery(e).find('img').one('error',function(){ jQuery(e).remove(); }); }); Difficulty: Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need:
  • Screwdriver
  1. Step 1 Open the oven door and examine the hinges to see how the they are secured to the door. Some oven doors slide into the hinge assembly or have a locking mechanism that secures the door to a latch on the main unit.
  2. Step 2 Remove the door from the oven by disengaging the locking mechanism and then pull the oven door out. You may need to release a catch on the door or remove a pin from a hole in the hinge.
  3. Step 3 Place the door on a flat surface such as a table or the floor.
  4. Step 4 Remove the screws that hold the sections of the door together to access the hinges.
  5. Step 5 Remove the hinges from the door. The hinges may be attached to the door with screws or they may be held in place when the door sections are tightened or secured.
  6. Step 6 Insert the new hinges into the door and secure them with the screwdriver or place the section of door back on. Tighten all of the screws securing the sections together.
  7. Step 7 Place the oven door back into place by sliding it on the same way that it came off.

Need to get the door off - model number B7425b1600E

To remove door: Open oven door fully open. On the hinge there is a small metal tag that swivels up and fits over a small hook on the hinge. Do this on both sides of hinge, then gently close oven door whilst lifting upwards- door will lift off. Reverse procedure to refit.

Oven door zbf360x zanussi

Open the door half way, grasp it firmly and pull as hard as required using a slight side to side motion to release the hinges which are attached to the door.

There are then to nuts on the bottom of the door which when removed allows you to split the door in half.

The hinges have a little lever on them such that they can be jammed open against the door. Once the hinge hook is in the oven housing simply turn the latch the other way, stand back and have a beer.
