If you removed the wheel to repair the flat did the square key fall out of the axle?, if so the axle will just turn inside the wheel centre and not drive the wheel, check the floor where the mower was.

SOURCE: Motor won't start and mower very difficult to push

is there a puddle of oil under where it made the clunking sound, that would mean the engine is blown. another thing to check is to see if the motor bolts that hold down the motor came loose and is hanging down there by keeping the pullys from moving right..good luck

You didn't indicate what model number, but most Craftsman wiring is the same. You must have your foot on clutch for it to start. Then when you release it you must also be sitting on the seat or it won't run. Check the operator presence switch under the seat to be sure it is operating. On most craftsman this is a switch connected to ground that shorts the magneto to ground to kill engine. So to test it you would want to connect tester to 12+ and then test the switch. One side should be 12- the other should be open when you're in the seat. You can go to www.searspartsdirect.com enter your exact model number. On the page for parts there is usually a button the right of the page you can click on for a manual. The manual should have a wiring diagram.

My john Deere 100 series .... Gear stuck in reverse.... And will not start because it is stuck in reverse!

sit on the mower and push the clutch in
start moving the mower by rocking it forward and backward while trying to put it in neutral, don't worry about your neighbors thinking their is something wrong with you while you are doing this.

Brought riding mower into the garage thru a side door, after that back wheels locked up would not start after that ?

try bringing it in the front door but I don't think that will fix the problem. if the wheels are locked up there is a safety switch that will not let it start if the trans is in gear

Can't push troy bilt lawn tractor when it is in neutral

It sounds like the tractor is hydro, if so you need to find the release lever to allow it to move in neutral.
Most hydros have the lever under the seat or at the back of the tractor just behind the back wheels.
if and when you find it, it will need to be slid across and locked in to the operset position or pulled out, depending on what type it is.

Hope this helps

Wont move forward or reverse-- transmission??

Does it have gears or a hydrostatic (automatic) transmission?

If it's a gear model, sounds like a loose drive belt.

If it's hydrostatic, it could be a belt problem or a problem inside the transmission. If it's a tranmission problem, this is not good. Many of the transmissions on riding lawn mowers are not serviceable - they are just replaced.

Rear Wheels won't move on riding mower when off and in neutral

Sounds like the pins/dowels in your brake caliper have gotten dirty and/or rusty and are not releasing all the way. When I had my shop, we found a lot of these and I or my mechanics pulled and cleaned them then took a drill 1/64th larger than the pin/dowel and ran it through the holes in the caliper, NO MORE PROBLEMS!

Wont stay running without pushing primer

Hi... I have a Poulan PRO Quantum xnp 6.75. Garage kept, unused approximately 2 yrs. Added fuel, primed & mower started but then shut down immediately. Then fuel began leaking from the primer button. I'm a single mom & CANNOT afford to have anyone fix this. However I am attempting to repair myself. PLEASE.... If you have any suggestions &/or solutions I would LOVE to know.
