SOURCE: transistors

Are the transistors missing?

You're unlikely to find a schematic for it. Since the amp is likely a clone, you may be able to use a schematic from another manufacturer to troubleshoot it. If you can send me a clear photo of the power supply components around the TL494, I may be able to help.

How does a transistor works?

basically it is like this
current flows through two pins like a light switch
when a current is applied to the 3rd pin it turns the switch off
so as in a light switch
switch on-- light comes on
switch of ( current to the 3rd pin ) light goes off
There are excellent pages and sites it you go google and type in--- how does a transistor work---

Tv blows 2sc4429 transistor

Check the freewheeling capacitor, connected between its collector terminal to ground for loose solder, or damage. Repalce this capacitor, before replacing the horizontal output transistor. If this capacitor is open, the horizontal output transistor will blow off, at the time of switch-on itself. Normally, its value will be grater than 3900pF & lesser than 9800pF[2500V]

One side dead

hi zm_16dec,

Right chanel fully dead , output transistor burnedout ,

Without knowing the make and model of your amplifier

all i can advise is to replace the unknown part number of

the transistor.

Look for the working left channel output transistors and

replace the bad transistors in "pair". These may include

other components but check on it as well.

Check the speaker system, especially where that channel

is connected.Inspect speaker wires or cable up to the speaker

itself.

Amplifier wont blow without reason. It could be from the wirings,

speaker or volume settings of the unit.

Thanks for choosing Fixya for assistance!

you mean a horizontal output transistor problem with your tv unit?. there are possible cause why a horizontal transistor get bad. it depends to what kind of trouble does the tv unit have. here are some of trouble that i encountered of H-out problem and how i fix it
  • leak regulator transistor, the problem of the tv unit when you turn on it works but suddenly shut down then the horizontal output get bad. now how are you going to know if the transistor is leak and shorted. by means of a digital multi tester or an analog tester. a good transistor must have a reading of .4 to .9 in a digital tester below or above to the range is said to be leak transistor. a regulator transistor is usually found at power supply section. how to test a transistor using the digital tester. get the tester and then pull out the transistor to chassis board. vinceisaac_24.jpg as you can see in the image above is a digital tester some other brands may vary in ranges but all the function are the same. now set the pointer to the resistance checking select to the range with diode sign. a transistor have 3 pins for base, emitter and collector (component term ) with the use of test probe now touch one end of probe either of the 3 pins and other probe to the other pin.check the reading to the display of tester if no reaction reverse the polarity until you find the correct reading as what i said a good transistor is about .4 to.9 and then try this process to the other pin of transistor to check if all the junction are good.
  • defective deflection yoke, the problem with the tv every time you turn on unit the horizontal output get damaged. a deflection yoke composed of two windings for vertical and horizontal coil ( technical term ). now how will you know if the coil has problem. a yoke has 4 wires, 2 wires for vertical and the other 2 wires for horizontal now with the use of digital tester set the pointer to the resistance checking either in a lower range. touch with the test probe either of the 2 wires check the reading if 0000 that means shorted sometimes cause by an over heat the insulation get damaged. repeat the process to the other 2 wires, a good coil at least has a reading about .5 to 1 ohm for horizontal and for vertical around 1.6 to 6 ohms it may vary depending to the yoke needed by the tv unit. vinceisaac_25.jpg the image above is sample of deflection yoke it was located and installed at the neck of ( crt )picture tube. if one of the coil winding has problem it always damaged horizontal output transistor and other part . i hope this trouble that i encountered will help you too to fix your problem good luck.

Yamaha AX 550 amp blows fuse when power switched on,

Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts and overloads.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced hands-on tech.

Does anyone know the numbers on q13 and q14 on the amp board.

With out knowing the specifics of what the name & model product you're asking about - the only thing I can tell you with reasonable certainty is that "Q13" and "Q14" are both transistors. A "Q" designation on a PCB is usually for a transistor.

You'll have to either consult the schematic or obtain the actual transistor manufacturer's part number from the transistor case itself. You will very likely be able to use a competing manufacturer's transistor for replacement if the original is not readily available.

I hope this helped!

Power on but no click sound. found some transistors and resistors burn in a small board located at down side of the amp, need scematic circuit diagram to repair it. Please send.

If you have burnt the transistors that are located on the circuit board, then you wont be able to repair it I dont think because in the circuit board there are probibly mulitple layers of electrical wires the are extremely small and fine that would make it impossible to connect the transistor to the right layer. Try contacting the manufacturer though

Alpine 605 digital amp, watched wrench slip and cause big spark next to positive speaker wire out put, amp reads CUR, ive tried rebooting, unplugging ALL conects , still wont run just flashes CUR any...

it looks like that you have shorted out a output driver transistor, only option is to open up and look for scorched transistor, if you cannot see one then you will have to get a multimeter set to continuity setting testing.

take a readings between each pins in all possible combinations of all the transistor of similar shape and size, the transistor with the odd readings is the blown transistor.
