I just got a used tv from a friend and the built in dvd player isnt working. I programmed the remote correctly, the dvd opens, I put in the dvd, press play and it closes, makes some obnoxious noise, the left corner says its loading the dvd, then nothing happens, other than a slight noise which immediately stops. I press play and nothing happens either. I am perplexed? I was thinking of trying a laser lense cleaner, but the player knows the disc is there, no error message. If you take out the dvd and try playing it knows there is no disc.

I also have the same problem with my RCA 21" tv/dvd combo as another guy. There is a black box taking up most of the screen on a couple of channels occassionally. I have to turn the tv off usually to make it go away. The solution I read was to use the menu to change the closed caption option to off or cc, but there is no off and cc makes me see the words on the screen. Anyone know how to turn it off or which of those settings to use? The list is t1, t2 etc then cc1, cc2 etc...Thx!I also have the same problem with my RCA 21" tv/dvd combo as another guy. There is a black box taking up most of the screen on a couple of channels occassionally. Have you tried programming the DVD player remote to your tv?
Also, if you have a universal remote here are some codes to program it to that pioneer DVD player: 4 Digit Pioneer DVD Player Remote Control Codes 0571 0631 1965 2008 2021 2160 2164 2191 2223 2224 2310 2337 2400 0632 0525 0638 1900 1902
If you are using the built-in DVD tray, press TV (in case you have a Cable Set-top box). Then press Input and navigate with the up/down keys to the line labeled DVD. Then press OK. Finally press play on the Polaroid TDA-03211C remote or on the side of the TV. The remote play button is in the center of the row below the row with skip reverse and skip forward buttons.
If you are using a different DVD player, press the input button and then the up/down arrows to get to the input for your DVD player. Then press the DVD button to control the DVD player.
If you are using a universal remote control, then you may need to program it to the TV and the DVD player separately. (Some universal remotes may only support the TV functions of this TV.) Make sure that your universal remote has an input button that works. You may need to try multiple codes for Polaroid TVs.
I hope this helps.
Cindy Wells (note: the DVD must be correctly installed so that the printed side (label) is facing the front of the TV. If you do not get a response, try the disc in another DVD player. The DVD player laser tracking can fail without warning. If the disc plays in other units, this may be the problem.)
Hi, To program the DVD player's remote control to operate your TV, follow these steps:
Turn on the TV, and then aim the DVD player’s remote control at the TV.
Press and hold the [TV Power] button on the DVD player's remote control.
While holding the [TV Power] button, use the number buttons on the remote to enter the two digit code assigned to your brand of TV.
Note 1: If your DVD player's remote control can be programmed to operate a TV, the TV brand codes will be listed in your owner's manual. If you don't have your owner's manual available, click here to go to the download center and download a copy. Note 2: Many TV brands have more than one code. If the first code does not work, try the next available code.
If the TV turns off, the code worked correctly and your remote control is now programmed. If the TV stays on, repeat steps 1 through 3 with a different code listed for your brand of TV.
Note: If none of the codes listed allows your DVD player's remote to control your TV, then the remote is not compatible with your specific model. Let us know if you want something more else please accept the suggestion. Thank You for contacting Fixya.com
It sounds like you may not be on the correct input selection on the tv to watch the dvd player. Ther are probably three or four inputs to choose from on your tv. whichever input you hooked the dvd player into on the tv is the same imput you have select using the tv's remote control in order to watch movies on the dvd player.
HI THERE, I FIXED THE PROBLEM MYSELF BY KEEPING THE FUNCTION BUTTON ON THE DVD PLAYER PRESSED UNTIL IT FLASHED ""MODE"". THEN I PRESSED IT IN SEQUENCE TILL IT CAME UP WITH DVD/TV THEN IT AUTOMATICALLY SWITCHED OVER TO THE DVD FUNCTION MODE. ALL DONE. BUT THE TV/DVD BUTTON ON REMOTE STILL ISNT FUNCTIONING OR CROSSING OVER CHANNELL. HAVE TO DO IT MANUALLY VIA DVD PLAYER. EVERYTHING ELSE WORKING EXCELLENT. THANKS ANYWAY. HOPE THIS INFORMATION WILL BE OF USE TO YOU IN THE FUTURE. I CUD CHARGE YOU FOR THIS INFORMATION BUT I WONT THIS TIME.... LOL. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND GUDBYE...
I own a One-for-All universal remote, and my booklet says the setup code for a Prima TV ( without a built-in DVD or VCR) is one of the following numbers: 0761, 0783, 0815, 0817. I can not guarantee these numbers will work with your remote, but it is worth a try.
I assume your DVD has been attached separately, and not built into the TV. In some cases, you might not need an additional setup code. Once the TV has been turned on, you simply push the DVD button on your remote, to activate the DVD. The instructions which came with your remote and your DVD should provide you with more details. If the instructions indicate that an additional DVD setup code is required, then please respond by telling me the brand name of your DVD.
