Cordless Dysons almost always fail just past 2 years.

You will have to Contact dyson directly, the number is usually located on the main shaft when you remove the canister, most dyson a are guaranteed for 5 years parts & labour inclusive, hope this helps.....

Hi, The brushbar on a dc24 has a small independent motor. They are quite notorius for burning out. Yours has done so. If your machine is less than 5 year old contact Dyson to come and repair it under your 5 year guarantee.

If however uour machine is out of warranty then you can either replace the motor within the head or order a brand new head.

Call dyson it should have a 5 year warranty and they are very good a customer service

This is a sure sign of a blockage. The motor cuts out because it gets too hot and will start again when it has cooled. Follow the instructions in your user manual for clearing blockages (you can download a copy from the Dyson website if necessary). Make sure the washable filter is clean too (and completely dry before you use it).

The symptoms you describe are typical of overheating. That indicates that there's a blockage somewhere. Have you ever replaced the belt? That is most likely the reason that it is not picking up like it used to. You are actually supposed to change the belt yearly. Here is the belt you need and the manual which has instructions:

The brushes on my dyson have stopped going round. I have checked it and they move freely by hand. The belt is intact. What could the problem be? The Hoover is about 10 to 12 years old.

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
One of the main problems with vacuums are that the flat belts on the vacuums stretch and should be changed every 4 to 6 months or 3 or 4 times a year – you can tell by taking off the belt or belts on the vacuums and compare them to the old belts on the vacuum the new belts will fix inside of the old belts and you will be able to see the difference on how much they have stretched – if the belt is a geared belt – they stretch as well but should be changed about one a year – the cost is not that expensive and you cleaning will improve almost double – this also applies for the Dyson DC04 and the Hoover vacuum as well – some of the Hoover vacuums have two (2) belts and they both should be changed @ the same time.

So, heres what to;
Check your filters - and for blokages in the hose and brush comparments,you have one in at top of the bucket called pre motor filter and one on top of the motor where the bucket sits called post motor filter. If these are worn and mucky wash them or replace.
Switch on your Dyson with no filters in and leave running to see if it cuts out. (in side on the motor their a liitle device called a TOC thermal over load cut out device. when the motor runs too warm - the TOC with cut power to the motor and will work again when cooled down.
