It seems that you have a broken stop wire. Trace the wire from the electronic ignition to the ignition switch.It usually is a black wire.
This is an adjustment problem I think. Make sure with engine off and the unit jacked up adjust the lever that engages the blades. Good tension when actuated and loose when realeased. Hope this is a help to you. donnyb60

Check the wires to the seat switch. Under the seat you should find 2 wires connected to the seat. Unplug them, and use a jumper on the end that goes into the body of the mower. Try it again, and if it works, replace your seat.

i had the same thing happen
found that the on/off switch had come unplugged from the wire harness just below the switch
had to attach the wires to something underneath so the weight did not pull the wires down and taped the two switches together to prevent it from pulling apart
it needs some kind of clip to hold them together

one of the safety switches are bad it could be the seat are the clutch are the blade switch you can try jumping a wire to the posts after you unplug them one at a time
