Question about Heating & Cooling

Open Question

Do they make metal floor vent covers that close all the way. I tried searching amazon but they keep showing those magnetic covers or rubber boots that cover the vent. I would like to be able to put a rug over the vent

SOURCE: My screen keep showing the Card Cover Open Error even though the cover is closed

Somewhere on the door will be a small piece of plastic which when the door is closed makes contact with a microswitch which tells the camera the door is closed. Either this switch has broken or the piece of plastic has. Somewhere within the memory card receptacle you should find a small hole where the piece of plastic enters when the door is shut. Switch the camera on, leave the door open and push a wooden match or something of a suitable size made of plastic into this hole (be gentle) if the "door open" sign clears then the problem is with the prod built into the door. If it doesn't clear then the problem is with the switch. Actually this switch can be disabled or continually shorted out if it proves to be faulty. I have had a camera come in for an unrelated repair with the hole blocked up with plastacine to hold the swich closed. IT WORKED Stu

The card door sensor is either damaged, failing or gone completely. You can take camera apart, (7 screws I think) take the back off. Sensor is at the back of camera near the battery door. If sensor is missing, you will see 2 spots on the electronics board where it was connected. Carefully melt solder so that those two points are connected. If sensor is still in place it's probably damaged. Carefully remove sensor using small snips or something like that, with out damaging anything around sensor. Then solder 2 points together. Good Luck

SOURCE: Washer - soap dispenser door - Magnet fell out... where does it go

I had the same problem. If you turn the dispenser so that the front faces away from you, look on the left side in the front. half way up there is a space with what looks like a plastic clip that might hold the dispenser to the front bezel. This actually holds the magnet, which can be installed without taking the dispenser apart. Be sure to install (pop in) the magnet vertically so that the long part of the magnet sits next to the right side of the dispenser opening (when viewed from the front) when the drawer is closed.

SOURCE: After replacing the housing. Front cover is closed

Hi,
It is on the back side of the plastic white cover where the little display is locked in place you will see a tiny slot on the left bottom side.

My mitsubishi eterna leaks when wet outside. It is becoming a big problem as mold is starting to form. I think it happens in the boot but where and how do i fix it?

check the sealing rubber around the boot opening paying attention to the rubber condition and the metal lip that it is fixed on.. Check that the boot lid is properly adjusted and touching the rubber all around . Check the sealing around the tail light assemblies. Check for rust in the floor of the boot . If you have a fender mounted aerial then check that the water is not getting in by the aerial and fitting

Leak in boot of Suzuki swift.. Hole where boot lid comes down

That's the air vent. If you look carefully water should be coming from the plastic frame that holds the vent with rubber flap. Just make the frame leakproof with mseal or some other compound. Question was asked 2 years before but might be helpful for others. I had the same problem and this how I fixed it.

How to fix a Kia Optima Sun visor

My visor broke also, but I REFUSED to pay the $120+ Kia wants to replace them with no guarantee to not have future problems. I took the advise of jacobib berto (the first reply), but went to Lowe's and bought a pack of circular magnets for $2.70. I then superglued 1 magnet to the "mirror flap" on the visor and then another to the side of the light on the roof (make sure you have opposite polarity prior to gluing). This may cause the "mirror flap" on the visor to open when attempting to pull the visor down so I used 2 strong rubber bands on the visor to keep the visor closed when pulled down the visor. Putting the magnets to the side of the mirror flap and the light still allows functionality of the mirror. I thought this was an okay sacrifice when considering the $100+ savings.

My son put a metal marble in my heat vent and it rolls around on corners. i have taken the heat vent covers off and tried a magnet on fishing line ,no luck

sorry, but your magnet is probably going down the wrong vent, there's a lot of chanels for it to travel through. the only solution, unfortunately, is to remove the dash & there for exposing the maze of vent pipes. wish you luck.

2002 suburban has leak in driver side rear floor. Cannot see where water would be coming from?

We had same--water on driver side rear floor (soaked!). Driver side front floor seemed dry until feeling UNDER rug, was slightly damp. We found the location of TWO leaks causing this.

Leak #1 was through the parking brake line/cable seal; Recaulked with silicone. Removed plastic trim on floor between floor and door to reveal metal channel filled with water.

Leak #2 was where the door meets the car, near the hinge. It was the accordian-looking tube housing the wiring for the door. The big, rubber, circular plug connecting it to the main part of the car had come loose and water ran down through that, into the SAME metal channel filled with water from leak #1; will seal with silicone.

Note: We found that the channel filled extensively near the front door, BUT the carpet edge from the floor near the rear seat was dipping into it, wicking it up to the rear floor. Also, upon acceleration, the water in the channel gushed toward the back, thus soaking the rear carpet.

These leaks were found by removing all plastic trim (covering edges of carpet by doors), then one of us pouring water into specific areas of the exterior of the vehicle, and the other one watching closely with a flashlight for any signs of dripping.

Where is the firewall to run a power line for an aftermarket amp on a 2005 BMW 325

The firewall is the area of metal between dash board and motor. On the driver side you will see throttle cable and possibly another cable that runs through a rubber boot that runs all the way through the firewall. Run your new power wire through the same spot, or run under side by fender and up under vent area into car. Better off going through rubber boot/cable area though.

Fuel keeps backing up at gas pump when filing tank.

There is a vent tube alongside fill tube, look to see if it's bent, pinched or somehow damaged. Some are metal, some plastic or rubber. If it's closed off or narrowed down for any reason, you will have difficulty pumping gas into the tank.
