SOURCE: Overflowing drip pan under the fridge

for reallybsq
problem could be door seals not sealing completely and hence excessive ice formed on evaporator and excess water when it melts. however, i have found this problem many times with large larder fridges and really found no cure.

for guest.
towards the bottom of the back wall, there is a gulley with a drain hole in the middle. this drain is blocked. clear it with something flexible and make sure water flows away freely

SOURCE: Do I need to empty the water from my drip pan

the pan is there to catch condensation from the compressor during the refridgeration cycle. the water build up to me indicates one of two things. Either the refrigerant level is low and it is freezing up then thawing, or if you have ice or water dispencer it could have a leak in the line. the only thing other than that is a leak in the magnetic door seal or other insulation causing condensation. hope this helps

SOURCE: built in water dispenser drips/leaks (fridge model

It is very possible that the water control valve on the rear of your refrigerator needs replaced. It would also be a good idea to install a pre-filter before the water gets to the water control valve. I believe the side of the valve that controls the water dispenser is stuck open slightly allowing water to drip. You can test by disconnecting the wires to the dispenser side and see if the drip stops. When you press dispense water the dual water control valve opens completely on the rear for the water to flow. If the seal inside is defective it will leak. Here are a couple places to finds the Dual Water control Valve

There is condensation under upright frigidaire freezer model number FFHI7F7HWE . also dripping water on the floor

There should be a drip pan under fridge to catch the condensation if pan is full it will cause water on floor or if drain line from defrost system could be plugged. Causing moisture to find alternative path.

Why would I find water under my refrigerator? Does that indicate a problem?

Sometimes while the refrigerator is defrosting, the drip plan will overflow. Look underneath and see if the drip pan is in place. Monitor in the future.

I HAVE A MAYTAG AUTOMATIC ELECTRONIC DEFROST CONTROL REFRIGATOR MODEL MSD2272VEB00. EVERY FEW DAYS WATER LEAKED FROM UNDER THE REFRIGERATOR ONTO THE FLOOR FROM WHAT APPEARS TO BE AT THE FRONT RIGHT SIDE...

Mostly the drip-pan can't be accessed from the front.

The drip-pan isn't.
It is in fact an evaporator. It collects the considerable amount of water from the auto defrost function and holds it until the heat from the motor and compressor can evaporate it. The water is transferred from the inside by a drain tube.

A blocked drain tube is not unusual and is generally fairly simple to clear. Often it is a stray vegetable that causes the trouble and sometimes it is a buildup of ice. If the water cannot escape a wet floor is usually the result.

Our fridge recently suffered from the same trouble. I used a plastic covered wire coat hanger to clear the drain of ice - very carefully...

In most refrigerators there is a drip pan underneath that captures condensation and allows it to evaporate. Possibly your drip pan is missing or improperly installed so that the condensation is dripping onto the floor. Check your manual, or find one online. Usually you just have to remove the grill from the bottom of the fridge to get access to the drip pan.

Hello and Welcome to FixYa!
Actually the leaking water is from the evaporator coil unit.... Under normal conditions,Self-defrost refrigerators usually dispose the water generated during the defrost cycle through a tube or channel that directs the water a pan (Known as Drip pan), commonly below the refrigerator unit....
The channel or tube is clogged and the water is leaking to the refrigerator unit, so you need to clear that blockage/contamination....Once the blockage is removed, the generated water will move through that channel/tube directly to the drip pan and there will no water on the floor in the refrigerator compartment. This is all you need to do....

Best of Luck,

I cannot get to the drip pan under refridgerator to empty it. It is filled with sludge and smells bad

Thank willie for helping with one: "Well, it looks like the pan is a seperate plastic pan and not the compressor mounting pan like some of the newer ones are. It appears that you have to remove the condensor fan motor and mounting bracket then maybe the pan will left up and over the compressor, or maybe there is enough room to lift the pan up and out the front over the condensor coils"

Fridge is leaking water all over the place.

The defrost drain opening or drain hose is plugged up with ice or crud. If the drip pan is bone dry, it's a sure sign that the drain opening or drain hose is clogged. Trace the drain hose back to see where it pick up the condensate in the refrigerator cabinet. Remove whatever pieces you need to to clean that sucker out. Door gaskets are torn or not making good contact with the cabinet. No? Well then where's all that water coming from, Einstein? It can only come from the humidity in the outside air--your fridge can't make water, dontcha know
