Underneath the freezer drawer builds up with ice (have to chip it off a (makes opening the freezer difficult) and sometimes when I open one of the fridge doors (does not matter which door) water pools under the fridge I cannot seem to trace where the water is coming from (the inside of the fridge and freezer appears to be dry). Currently I have the water turned off to the fridge (for at least a week now) and today water pooled again under the fridge. The fridge, ice maker and freezer seem to work ok

It seem that you have a clogged freezer drain. you can fix this by first turn off the unit leve all door and let it thaw about 4 to 6 hours or longer. if this doesnt cure the problem then repeat above procedure but this time open the plastic cover on the freezer and clean out the drain make sure all drain are unclogged also while your at it check the operation of the drain heater pan underneath the unit. and lso check the operation of the defrost timer. hope it help you.

The bottom of my Panasonic frig freezer NR-B29SG2 keeps forming ice making it difficult to open the bottom drawer

Confirm that the seal around the door is tight.
Confirm that the door is fully closed with no obstructions and the door alignment is correct.
Confirm no ice between door and seal.

Using a strip of paper test the tension between the door and seal around the door.

Check the freezer temperature.

It is possible that the defrost cycle has stopped operating. Usually the self defrost will prohibit proper cooling as the ice builds up on the cooling coils. Look for ice build up on the cooling coils/vent openings.

Check the freezer and refrigerator temperatures.

Hope this has helped?

How do I completely open a partially opened freezer drawer?

Hello Laura;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

Refrigerators with freezer drawers are nice up until the time that you need to call a service technician, and find out it cost about 40% more than a top or side by side refrigerator to repair.

If you leave your freezer drawer not completely closed, outside warm air enters your freezer and you get Ice build up on the rail system. It is difficult to see if the freezer drawer is completely closed because the fresh food section doors above block the view.

If you can pull the drawer out part of the way, use a hair dryer directly on the rail system on both sides in a effort to melt the restricting ice. Take your time. This may take several hours at which time you will push and pull on the drawer every 30 minutes until you break the rail system free from ice restriction.

After you have the door free, with a kitchen spatula and a hair dryer heat the gasket around the freezer door gasket pulling the gasket out to repair a possible crushed door gasket and not having a goo seal.

I have gone on service calls where the rail system ice was so built up, all I could do was to advise the customer to unplug the refrigerator for 36-24 hours to clear the ice from the rail system.

This is a common problem with drawer freezers. Next time get either a top mount refrigerator freezer or a side by side. Lower repair cost and more reliable.

Describe your frigidaire frs23f5a freezer

With ours it is ice collection on the fan in the freezer section. This is located about half way down under the icemaker (please unplug to proceed). If you remove the four hex head screws and lift up the metal flap you will find the fan assemble and most likely the ice build up to chip off.

Ice in freezer compartment

Check to see if your drain tube is clear. Sometimes it freezes up at the base of the rear cover in these bottom freezers. Causing an ice dam.
