SOURCE: we have a seth thomas

The clock must be levelled the same as when it was previously set up. In other words, if you didn't check the level of the clock before disassembly and reassembled it and re-levelled it, it may not operate because it might not be the same.
Some clocks have different weights for the clock, chime, and hour strike. Did you mark them and install them in the same location?
My Seth Thomas has a screw to adjust the swing of the pendulum to allow proper escapement on the gear, but you have to be able to determine which way the pendulum needs to swing more to make that adjustment. I may be able to help you with this!
You may need a clock repair service.
Let me know,
Gary

Can you replace mechanical movement with a electrical movement and maintain pendulum movement?

hi,

  • would be nice to know if this is a full blown grandather clock. Part of the personality of a clock is its movement. anyways I would leave it if that movement is antique at all as mechanical movement in anything will not depreciate. again I am at odds why someone would want to do this. A local clock shop would have more answers for you. if its a mantle clock or something other than that they make retro kits listed on the link

How to reset the clock?

Hello Ruth Anderson,

All mechanical... clocks (even quartz) should only ever be ADVANCED... In the springtime simply advance the clock and HOUR. In the FALL pull the plug, stop the pendulum...
QUARTZ WATCHES... Pull the winder stem out FULLY
(this removes battery...

Wait an HOUR... Plug the clocks back in... restart the pendulum
or push in the STEM on your QUARTZ WATCH...
(this restores power (and keeps the CROWN from coming unscrewed from the "winder-stem")).

Never turn the clocks backwards...
Modern clocks probably don't ACTUALLT MATTER
but antique clocks and timers can be UTTERLY RUINED
(It's just a good rule... & water RESISTANT seals happy).

Relative to the clock-face...
"FALL BACK - SPRING FORWARD"
SPRING = FORWARD ... advance the hands an hour.

Technically "time change" only ever occurs between
1am and 2am during each time zones respective hours...!!
Even on QUART
Hope this helps!

Clock keeps correct time but pendulum does not move

Either the battery for the pendulum drive is dead, or the collective circuit that drives the pendulum mechanism is faulty. If the clock takes only one battery you can be assured it is the pendulum drive circuit. takesin this case, you can find aftermarket pendulum accessories on Amazon and eBay.

Pendulum does not move

Good details! Go to Timesavers.com
You can find a replacement pendulum unit there. Your pendulum mechanism probably has a bad coil. The coil is extremely difficult to repair.

Bakelite antique mantle clock just bought, but no instructions of how to get it going. Ive got the key and pendulum but dont know how to set it up. Can you help?

First you have to wind up your clock using the key supplied. The pendulum suspension spring should start to swing quite fast. Stop it swinging with your fingers and hook up the pendulum. When done, push the pendulum to whatever side and release it to start the swing - the clock should start ticking in normal order. If there is no special bar on the back of clock movement for adjusting hands, then hands must be adjusted from the dial side by moving minute hand clockwise. Move the minute hand with your finger clockwise to the desired time, at the same time do not catch hour hand, as this may end up with the incorrect time displayed. Rate me, plz.
