PIXMA ip4000 (windows Vista) printing color in horizontal lines

Per nozzle check all colors except 3eBK and second 6C print horizontal lines. The color intensity is the same for the duplicated test elements. 6BK seems light. Several cleanings and several deep cleanings make no difference. Ink cartridges have been replaced but this started happening before replacing cartridges.

Ip4000 printer prints but with horizontal lines

Cannon recommend a cleaning process called deep head cleaning

  1. Open the Printers folder.

    - For Windows XP select 'Start', 'Control Panel', 'Printers and Other Hardware', and 'Printers and Faxes'.
    - For Windows versions other than Windows XP select 'Start', 'Settings', and 'Printers'.

  2. Right-click the printer icon and select 'Properties'.

  3. Click the Maintenance tab, and then click the 'Deep Cleaning' icon.

  4. Select the ink tank color(s) for deep cleaning ('All Colors', 'Black', or 'Color').

    win_maint_deep_clean2.jpg

  5. Confirm the message, and then click the 'Execute' button.

  6. The Power lamp will blink and print head deep cleaning will start. Deep cleaning completes when the Power lamp stops blinking and lights. (It will take about a minute for the Power lamp to stop blinking and light solid.)

  7. Print a Nozzle Check Pattern by holding down the <Resume> on the printer until the Power light flashes twice to determine if further cleaning is necessary. Up to three deep cleanings may be necessary to determine if the print head is working properly

There are magenta horizontal stripes going across all color prints. I have done nozzle checks and cleaning but still the 6M and 6C are not solid colors as they should be.

try checking for dirty contacts where the ink cartridge connects to printer (where it sits, the gold pins or somethin).

If changning cartridges dont work it probably your carriage ribbon

IP5000 3ebk problems

Hi,

I had a similar problem. Pages in blue, but nozzle check in black. Tried what you tried. Changed the ink ($). Still no change. Then tried the maintenance option to clean the bottom plate. And now it is working. Go figure.

Canon pixma ip4000 color not printing correctly with full inks

In both cases be sure using correct ink. Use of generic ink can lead to leakage of catrridge seats do to crossion from inferrior ink quality (per Cannon). Be sure ink in proper locations - see manual. Run the maintenance proceedures: cleaning then print nozzle pattern. If all colors are not proper after two or three cleanings, perform deep cleaning. Print nozzle pattern after each cleaning. This should clear up problem. If not, print head may need replacement.

PIXMA Ip4000

I assume you're using photo paper.

Go to File/Print. Click Properties. Click Media Type and chose the photo paper you are using, whether it's Photo Paper Pro or whatever. If you're printing using Plain paper and you have photo paper in the printer, you'll get the stripes.

Hope that helps
