Similar to mine so find out the thread going into the shaft and order either the 3/8 or 1/2 to suit your needs.

SOURCE: how to remove chuck from drill press

I just looked at a breakdown for this tool and it is not that clear. But to get an owners manual you can go to Searspartsdirect.com and type in your model number and look at the same schematici I did and also order a manual for about 7.50. Usually though on a drill press like that it would be a morse taper. Do you see a slot cut thru the spindle on both sides, if so there should be a tapered key that came with the unit. In that case what you would need to do it put the key in the slot and tap it with a hammer to remove the adaptor and chuck. Let me know if I can help further

SOURCE: Replace drill chuck on 23 year old Craftsman 8" drill press

Yes it does have a Morse taper and you can remove it by gently hitting it with a rubber or nylon mallet.

SOURCE: Craftsman Drill Press chuck problem

It is unless there is a tang on the end. What you need to do is thoroughly clean the parts with something like brake clean to remove all the oil and then wipe with a clean paper towel. What I do it put the arbor into the drill press or the chuck onto the arbor and then put a 2x4 on the table and press the parts together or if you have enough room fully retract the jaws and use the block of wood to "tap" the parts to seat them. Let me know if you need more assistance

Testimonial: "Thanks rowdy45176. Your solution was spot-on. I cleaned both sides and them , with the chuck jaws fully retracted, tapped it with a plastic mallet"

SOURCE: Craftsman 10" bench drill press chuck wobbles

If this is a new tool I would take it back and get it replaced. The only other way to eliminate this problem is to determine if it is the spindle or the chuck and replace the defective unit. Warranty works better.

I want to put a taping head on my drill press. What is the spindle size of a craftsman 12" drill press?

without the model number I am going to guess that as a general rule most smaller drill presses are a #2 morse taper socket and a #2 jacobs taper arbor (where the chuck presses on) you should have been supplied a knockout pin to remove the chuck assembly from the internal socket.

Need a chuck key for model 1140b,f powermatic drill press, manual part number 6285469.

There are only a few sizes of chuck key. Easiest thing to do is first find a drill bit that fits in the hole where the key goes to determine the size of the pin on the end of the key. (Use the back end of the drill bit.) Then take any other chuck key you have and see how closely it fits or doesn't fit - just as a reference. Take the reference chuck key and the drill bit with you to Sears or any place that sells a good assortment of tools. You will probably be able to determine the correct size key from what they have available very easily. Good luck, Al K

Check out the web site, type in the numbers you have here and you should find the part or the number, size, whatever. Check it out. If the web site doesn't work, just take the first part of it and dump the rest.

How do you remove the chuck from a Craftsman Model #315.11441 3/8 vsr corded drill? Am trying to remove the chuck but I believe there is some type of a set screw or locking mechanism that needs to be undone. I can see a slotted screw head in the chuck Looking straight down on it but it is very tight and I don't want to break it or a screwdriver forcing it. Thanks for input. Bob

I need a 5/8" chuck key for a Mod.1600(1984)Duracraft drillpress

There are perhaps half a dozen sizes of chuck keys. Sears carries them. You can measure the size of the pin by finding a drill bit or bolt that fits well and taking that to the store with you. You can approximate the size of the teeth by using a piece of paper and forming it over the chuck and using a pencil to rub over the teeth. Put a hole in the paper with the bolt or drill bit to capture the radius from the pin to the teeth. If you find a couple of close candidates, buy them both. Sears will take the other one back. Good luck.

The chuck on my craftsman 8" drill press wobbles. How can I stop it from wobbling?? Can I get a manual for my drill. thanks. [email protected]

There are a couple of different ways that drill chucks are attached on smaller tools. You didn't specify the model, so I can't help much. But here is a link to where you can usually find manuals for Craftsman. If the press is not too old, you will probably be able to find the manual here.
