Hydrostatic drive is weak

I have the 48"hydrostatic drive. It is now cutting fine, but will not pull up hills under pressure - as though the transmission is weak.???

Try pulling back on the left foot pedal. This manually adjusts the drive belt tension and is a sign that the engine pulley has worn to the point the belt looses traction. A local repairman told me this last week and mine works fine now although in the very near future I'll need to replace the pully. Good luck

There are two separate belts underneath. The upper belt goes to the hydrostatic transmission. The lower belt goes to the cutting deck. Please be sure about the belt being fine. Unless the belt is new, the belt could be stretched. The pulleys and tensioning devices will need to be inspected for wear, damage and function.

Mower wont cut going up hill

there should be two drive belts. they should be replaced both at the same time. if one is wore so is the other one. use the correct belt, from a lawn mower parts store.

Husqvarna 24hp VTwin Hydrostatic 48' cut riding lawn mower will not move either direction.

I would check the drive belt going to rear end if not that I would check fluid level in transmission.

Hi, it sounds like the hydrostatic drive is getting too hot. Remove the battery and battery cradle and clean all grass and debris from around the hydrostatic drive and cooling fins. Also check the fan wheel on the hydro is not damaged. Regards Phil.

My MTD 12.5 hp briggs and stratton ride on mower is losing forward speed as though a clutch is slipping especially going up hills or slopes. MIKE

You didn't indicate what model so I don't know if it is hydrostatic drive or not. If it is not hydrostatic drive, it is most likely a worn belt or clutch adjustment. If you don't have your manual you can download one here:http://www.mtdlawnmowerparts.com/manuals.php
If it is hydrostatic drive it stil could be the drive belt or low water in hydrostatic transmission, or even water in the oil in the hydrostatic transmission. Always list model number when asking questions.

Hydrostatic drive seems to be weak. belt to motor isn't broke. seems to slip more and more as you go. up hill pulling of lawn rake nearly impossible.

Try using the heel of your shoe and pulling back on the brake/clutch pedal and see if it helps. Cronic problem with these mowers-Belt slipping when linkage get a little wear-with no solution???

Cub cadet Z Force 48 inch zero turn blades won't engage

I hope this will help you...under the side panels on each side of the mower, there are "reverse lockout safety switches", they are supposed to stop the blades when both handles are pulled back. If one or both of the switches are out, the deck will not engage. Also, under the right side panel (when sitting on seat) there should be 3 relay switches, the one closest to the motor controls the PTO., if this is out, the PTO will not engage.
