Looking at front (inside of outer door) the D-40 has very different look than my I-40s and 60s, but bet programming is near the same.
1st, turn red arrow switch to"setup";press select button until time/date appear, here, not sure of programing...pressing select at this point may take you out of time setup mode.Try the up/down buttons below the display once right time is displayed, press select.
Hope this works, and good luck.

I have read through the manual and could not find any special action required the register the change.

The only thing that I can think of is, did you continue to press the "select" button until you have left the time set routine? If you do not exit the routine then it seems likely that changes will not be recorded.

MGC-12592 d-555i. The unit turned on I changed the date and time set the capture for 10 seconds. The red light blinked when I walked by, I did not see the flash work though. I can't get photos to download...

The red light is the infrared, this is not a white flash camera you can view pic on that camera by going to playback. How to get there hit your menu button go to camera setup and then go to playback and hit enter you should see them then. If still not working call Moultrie 8006533334 option 1 and 1 for a live person will need equipment to troubleshoot the issue.

Moultrie d40 drivers xp

You don't need to use a driver.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Hi Ron just want to no if you do repairs on the Moultrie D50 trail camera

They are close to the D40s inside but the D50 won't fit a D40s "lunchbox"outer case without modifying it. Both are known for flash problems, which usually ends up being bad charge capacitors (3x 250mfd)..
the ones I can't fix,I rob the LCD menu displays, which rarely fail in D40/D50s, and use them in the I40/I60s notorious for bad menu displays...they are interchangeable with minor mods if any.
Oh, you just asked if I worked on them...

Moultrie D50 game trail camera won't take pictures in dark

Does the flash work? Could be flash circuit or day/night sensor. If you have another D40/D50 camera that flash works but has other problems, swap out the sensors. If not the sensor but the flash circuit then most likely one of the large charge capacitors which has to be soldered in.I use a digital multimeter with I/O capacitor test function..these caps should be about 250mfd.
