You need to get vista drivers either online or through the manufacturer... thus is why i got rid of vista and went back to xp... also some software simply won't work with vista that did on xp.

My gt4024s sound card crapped out and I'm trying to figure out what sound card I can upgrade to. I'm just looking for something cheap to get me by and need to know what cards to look at. I know...

well no OS told
so there is no answer ever lacking such a key fact.
if the PC runs old OS new sound cards do not work now.
like XP sound cards are useless on new PC
and new sound cards are useless on XP.
see? there is no support for XP or vista now
and w7 is nearing same.
yes you can buy XP sound cards on ebay if they promise it works on XP that is, there are old stock still sold.
the 4020 not sold in USA only 4022
so I will read this manual
OMG BTX PC here, the horror of backwards MOBO
and cards that do not fit this case + mobo and hit the fan shrouds
seem top come with VISTA OS , GW shows.
but our manual shows no BTX horror,>? how odd is that.?
this PC needs no audio card at all to do sound.
it has the 6 sounds jacks on the rear.
sound cards added only add new feature or better sound.
ok the 4020R is reversed BTX, they had ATX and BTX(R) then.
  • One PCI Express ×16 (graphics interface)
  • One PCI Express ×1
  • Two PCI conventional

  • there are your slots
  • only you know what slots are free to use, looking or what slot was used on old card, really not needed anycard
  • so the answer is this, use X1 slot sound for VISTA.
  • or buy USB sound dongle device, for VISTA
  • if not VISTA say what it is..
  • BTW BELOW IS THE BTX VERSION THAT CAN BE A HORROR.
  • LET ME EXPLAIN HORROR NEXT
  • LETS SAY X16 SLOT HAS VIDEO GPUCARD.
  • AND NOT A NEW SOUND CARD IS PUT AT X1 SLOT
  • AND HITS THE GPU CARD X16 , SEEN THIS VAST TIMES.

Seems like your graphic card is not supported. Its a older version. My first solution would be update your driver for your graphics card: http://driver.wareseeker.com/download/visiontek-radeon-9250-agp-8.072.rar/1e97d07a01 or http://www.soft32.com/Download/Free/VISIONTEK_RADEON_9250_AGP/4-172246-1.html

If that doesn't fix it (which I don't think it will), you might just have to buy yourself a better graphics card and/or computer.
