My Samsung HLP4663WX has no picture, can't power off

I bought this Samsung DLP TV in 2001 and had no problem until recently. It had about 3700 hours when it's broken. I changed the lamp but it worked for a few hours then it had strange colors then after a few minute with strange pictures, the TV went black but the sound was working. It also won't let me power it off unless I pull the power cord. When I turn it on again, sometime it reboot itself then end up with flashing lights on the power button, sometime it has strange pictures for a minute then goes black again. I guess it's not color wheel as it doesn't make the strange noise.
Any ideas? Thanks!!!!!

Is there a way to test it to make sure it's the DMD board. I heard it's expensive. Thanks!

It may be a bad DMD board. This is usually the problem when you get the three lights of death.

I have a Samsung 50" HDTV DLP TV that I purchased 10/12/2008. I turned the set on the other day and it would come on generate a normal picture then power itself off. I unplugged the set for a few hours...

Lamp could still be going out they only last for 5,000 hrs some 8,000 playing hours.
Check the Lamp Fan if it stops running when Lamp turns on set will turn OFF.
But if you have never replaced Lamp Problem will be the Lamp Mats Has them for $99.00

Samsung dlp has dark picture?

It sounds like your lamp is about to die out,this tv lamps are good for 6000-8000 life hours witch is a average time of 2-4 years old and with time the picture starts to get darker and darker until one day black screen here is a link with the lamp you need

if you say that your picture gets distorted you mean like it moves to a side? do you see a black middle block?

if it's a yes?

so its probably the light engine. you need to change it!

What is the difference between a color wheel and a color conversion kit on a Samsung HLP4663wx

HLP4663WX is a DLP which has a color wheel. The DLPs dont have convergence circuits since there is only one light source. Projections with three CRTs have convergence which is the alignment of all three CRTs ( Picture Tubes)

Samsung HLP4663WX/XAA picture went out, started making strange noise, all lights on power button came on.

Sounds likea bad color wheel to me, or possibly a lamp has blown. If the noise is a humming sound--it is the CW--if you hear a "sound like a sizzle, for a few seconds and then normal, and this repeats a few times--the lamp has blown.

When i turn the tv on ,sometimes i hear a high pitched fan noise.

Hi, bearings in color wheel are about to fail, get it fixed now before the wheel shatters the prisms all over the inside of the tv which of course will then cost you more to fix, video-tek

Samsung dlp mod# hlp4663wx/xaa 2004, When power is turned on the indicator lights for "lamp" and "timer" come on but, no picture? Then the tv will power off, then on and repeat the...

I don't have the manual handy at the moment. but if you look in the owner's manual you should see that this is the code for either a lamp or fan problem. I will look it up myself later, but check the manual. This could be as simple as replacing the lamp.

Samsung,model-HLP4663WX/XAA , bought in jan. 2005. have sound,but no picture. the small circle in the bottom front of the that shows, lamp,or stanby temp,or timer. they are all flashing when the set is...

Had same problem. Bought replacement lamp. Worked for 6 weeks now I'm looking at replacing the ballast. TV turns of after 5 minutes.
