Mtd 1993 riding mower model 828 I was mowing then tractor stopped and wont go forward or backward It runs fine, and blades seem fine. Drive belt looks fine.

ed, be sure there is nothing wrapped around the blades. lower the deck and be sure the belt is around all of the pullys. If the belt comes off one of the pulleys or the pulley on the engine it may feel normal but it wont engage the blades.
First lift up the front tires of the ground with a jack. Look for a bent linkage bar or other damage or maybe foreign material that restricts the free movement of the linkage. Also check the front ball joints, axles and kingpins for lack of lubricant.
