Same Problem - Flashing light - no power - after power outage

Sept. 16, 2009 - In Aug 2009 I had a power outage at my apartment and everything was working except my Compaq Presario SR1430NX computer harddrive which would not boot up after (front switch dead) and I had the flashing green light on the back of the harddrive tower. I am writing this to thank the person who said to unplug the power plug from the motherboard while the computer is still plugged (hot swap) into the wall. I am not a techie and have no knowledge about motherboards but by looking on the HP website at the pictures and finding the largest plug and figuring out which was the power plug and how to take it off - finally it worked I got a solid green light - I was now afraid to unplug it again but I had to to get it back over to where my power bar and monitor were - so I unplugged and plugged it back in and my computer is up and running and actually sounds better than before - I kind of cleaned off the fan while trying to figure out which plug was which. I think I had shut down my computer at the same time as the power was going out (not sure if this caused it) but I have had alot of power outages in the past and never had this happen. So here is to the person who solved my problem - I am forever indebted to you - also - if I had contacted a tech for support they would have told me it was the power supply - I asked a techie friend and that is what he told me it was - but I had read your post and told him what you said and he did not think it would work. You should have this posted with the HP website for solutions to the flashing light problems caused by a power outage.
THIS JUST COST ME TIME AND PATIENCE! - I can handle that. - Thankyou again

JD

MY COMPUTERS front and back green light is flashing green

you can remove your side cover, and unplug everything from your power supply. then if you plug in your computer and the light still flashes it's your power supply. If not it's something that it is powering. Most likely it's your motherboard. I had this happen to me when there was a power surge/ outage and my computer wasn't even on.

Dell dimension 5150. wont start

Most times when you have flashing yellow light there is issue ether with cpu or motherboard. Just to be safe test the power supply and if ok then try to replace cpu and go from there. If power supply issue just replace it. Might be easier to take it to pc repair store. Good Luck

Digital picture frame wont power back up

Test the power adapter. If the light is flashing, it may not be getting the 12 volts that it needs. You can test it w/ a voltage tester or if you don't have one, take it to Radio Shack and they can test it. If it's dead, or short, replace it and then the frame will work again.

I had a similar problem with a Dell monitor after a power outage. I pulled the monitor apart and found a connector not completely seated. I think that something internal has happened to your monitor. It could be an internal fuse or something. If you don'r feel comfortable taking it apart, find a reputable service center.

Cl flashing on display

You need to reset the time after a power outage.  Press the Day/Check, Hour, and Minute buttons until the correct time is heard-- Press Day/Check until you hear the correct day announced. Then do the same with Hour, and then Minute.
