Sept. 16, 2009 - In Aug 2009 I had a power outage at my apartment and everything was working except my Compaq Presario SR1430NX computer harddrive which would not boot up after (front switch dead) and I had the flashing green light on the back of the harddrive tower. I am writing this to thank the person who said to unplug the power plug from the motherboard while the computer is still plugged (hot swap) into the wall. I am not a techie and have no knowledge about motherboards but by looking on the HP website at the pictures and finding the largest plug and figuring out which was the power plug and how to take it off - finally it worked I got a solid green light - I was now afraid to unplug it again but I had to to get it back over to where my power bar and monitor were - so I unplugged and plugged it back in and my computer is up and running and actually sounds better than before - I kind of cleaned off the fan while trying to figure out which plug was which. I think I had shut down my computer at the same time as the power was going out (not sure if this caused it) but I have had alot of power outages in the past and never had this happen. So here is to the person who solved my problem - I am forever indebted to you - also - if I had contacted a tech for support they would have told me it was the power supply - I asked a techie friend and that is what he told me it was - but I had read your post and told him what you said and he did not think it would work. You should have this posted with the HP website for solutions to the flashing light problems caused by a power outage.
THIS JUST COST ME TIME AND PATIENCE! - I can handle that. - Thankyou again
