The telephone line doesn't connect to the router. The telephone line goes to the modem which is provided to you by your internet provider. Then an ethernet cable is connected from the modem to the router.

The modem allows the internet connection to be active, The router is used to distribute the Internet to create a network.

DSL light constantly blinks I have turn it off for an hour and on and it still blinks. The telephone line that it is on is good. How can I fix this problem?

1.check with your ISP for proper connectivity.
the telephone line is good that means that you have a connectivity issue with the IP from the ISP.
2. Unplug the router from the wall connector then replug it back in.
3. check the line filters for you telephone line.

Wiring schematic for this router

Jehayman,

I am not if you are referring to the Ethernet connection when you said connections to the telephone line. Your WRT54G does not have a telephone port, it has an Ethernet port. If you would like to know how to connect this router to your network here is how you can do it.

If you look on the back of your router, there will be 5 Ethernet ports there (looks like a phone port but it's bigger). They are labeled 1,2,3,4, and WAN or Internet.

The ports labeled 1-4 are for your computer/s that will connect to the router through wired connection using an Ethernet cable. The port all by itself labeled WAN or Internet is where the modem should go to. If you dont have a modem from your ISP and just have a line that is plugged in straight to the computer, that line can be plugged in to that port.

Connecting Linksys wrtu54g wireless router with Linksys SPA 2102

If you want to receive "incoming" telephone-calls:

ADSL modem <---> Linksys SPA <---> wrtu54g <---> wired computer

and Linksys SPA <--- telephone-line-1 --> telephone hand-set
and Linksys SPA <--- telephone-line-2 --> FAX machine

or Linksys SPA <-- telephone-line-1 --> mechanical telephone-splitter
with telephone-splitter --> hand-set
with telephone-splitter --> FAX

Installing acces point

Yes, you can chain routers together if you'd like, however people who connect to the first router connected to the modem will not be able to see the people connected to the chained router. However, people connected to the chained router will be able to see the other people connected to the main router.

Ic help

Scenario 2 to 4: Scenario 2) The modem does not have an Ethernet port. The modem is a dial-up modem for traditional dial-up service. To use the Router, you need a cable/DSL modem and high-speed Internet connection.

Scenario 3) You cannot use the DSL service to connect manually to the Internet.
After you have installed the Router, it will automatically connect to your Internet Service Provider (ISP), so you no longer need to connect manually.

Scenario 4) The DSL telephone line does not fit into the Router’s Internet port.
The Router does not replace your modem. You still need your DSL modem in order to use the Router. Connect the telephone line to the DSL modem, insert the setup CD into your computer, and then follow the on-screen instructions
