The method is influenced by the software and printer being used as well as the access granted to the person using the program.

If you are using an Excel or Calc spreadsheet, you can select the area to be printed.

You can preview the area that will be printed prior to printing. And you can definitely change the number of pages you are going to print.

Clicked twice on to print a book i need one

Just wait for the first copy to be printed out and remove the rest of the paper to stop waisting it. Open the print queue on the computer, control panel, printers and faxes/devices and printers and delete the print job. It may take a while so be patient. Once deleted, power-cycle the printer and put the paper back in it.

Why when I select Glossy in the print settings, the print shifts?

Run this paper from the bypass tray located on the right hand side of the machine.
Try setting that paper type on the copier itself.
Load the paper. Go to the manual paper tray select screen. Select tray 1 and then change paper settings.
Glossy paper also tends to slip in these machines when the paper tray rollers are bad.

The printer cuts off the top part of the document when printing. Is this a margin issue?

Yes, most likely your application's margin settings are incorrect. Try printing a test page - NOT from the application. If this is Windows, go to printers in control panel, right-click on the subject printer, choose Properties, then click the Print Test Page button. You should get the standard Windows printer test page with the logo at the top and all the printer specifics below. If the test page is also cut off, look around in the HP-provided software for any margin and/or page size settings that are incorrect, such as A4 paper when it should really be Letter size.

Paper

Regular paper is fine for day to day printing. Although, highly graphical printing, or printing that uses a lot of ink will look much better on the inkjet paper, as it doesn't 'bleed' through it nearly as much.

Printers usually have some sort of cable or belt that moves the carriage. Check the belt on your machine. They will wear and deteriorate over time and sometimes will shred. If you REALLY like your printer, the belt can be replaced.
