I have a Whirlpool model WDT970SAHZ0 dishwasher that is about 1.5 years old. I have a lot of problems with all of the plastic parts but the worst is that the top rinsing arm keeps falling off.

SOURCE: Cannot unscrew cap on rinse aid compartment in door of Whirlpool Gold Quiet Partner III

the cap doesn't come off, you just have to open the door all the way. then, when you pour the rinse aid into the dial area, it will get sucked into the dispenser. but if the door isn't open all the way it won't go anywhere and will overflow on you.

SOURCE: maytag model dwu9200aax

The top spinner part can simply be pulled off by grasping it near its hub and pulling downward. Push it back on and push in the locking clip in the center. The bottom spinner can be removed, First unscrew the center column. Hold the spinner with one hand, turn the base of the center column counter clockwise. Then lift column off. Then the spinner should lift off of the keyed white plastic base. Underneath it, on the neck off of which you lifted it, are two plastic washers that form a seal (supposedly). Good to clean these to make spinner rotate freely, but be careful not to break them taking them off. If you want to go farther in, there is the point of a strange shaped plastic nut sticking up into the base of the column. If you remove this, and the 6 torx screws holding the strainer cap, you can get it all out to clean it up (I had bits of plastic bag in the slots of a 4-armed thing that apparently sprays the filter screen), and scrub the washer in the bottom. Remarkably yucky down there in a 10 year old installation...

Whirlpool Gold Quiet Wash Plus...model#gu940scgq2...about 15 years old...washes fine but now there are 2 buttons that do not work - air dry button (which is also the lock/unlock controls) and the...

Rich,
At 15 years old you are probably going to find that parts will be limited in availability and expensive if they are available. With buttons not working, that sounds like probably a controller problem and that would be an expensive part. You would probably be better off putting your money into replacing the dishwasher. The average lifespan on a dishwasher is anywhere from 7 to 10 years, so you have your money's worth out of that unit. Hope this helps!

I have model DU810SWPU3 Whirlpool dishwasher that is 1 yr old. Plastic dishes appear to have a film on them when cycle is complete. The water also seems to drain slowly. I assume that what appears to be...

The problem is hard water. There is a new product out called the dishwasher filtration system. It filters the water before it enters your dishwasher. It works amazing and has a money back guarantee. You will love the way your dishes look after the first load. It is also very affordable (like 70 bucks). Go to www.dishwasherfilter.com to find out more info.

The dishwasher is only 3 years old and the motor went. Any suggestions?

Replacing a motor is reasonably easy. One has to know basics of electrical safety though.
The motor can be bought on ebay.
Make sure it is a motor, not other things, fuses, control parts etc.
Disconnect the dishwasher before any electrical works.
I would open the dishwasher, take out protective plastic covers at the botom (they are typically removed with a flat screw driver), unscrew the motor, find out which Cat. number it is, order one on ebay,
put it back, you are done. The worst thing is that it all takes crawling on the knees for a while.

If you can not do electrical works, post an ad on craigslist.org, help wanted with location and price of the work.

Maytag Quiet Series 100, Model # MDB5600AWS, built in dishwasher. Does not get the dishes clean, dishes stay dirty after multiple cycles of washing. Please help!

We also have a Quiet series 100 and had the same problem, the dishes always came out dingy or with food all over them. My washer is about 5 years old and worked well for about 4 of them but the last year has been doing a poorer and poorer job washing the dishes. I finally broke down and removed the racks and all of the plastic parts from the inside of the washer. Doing this revealed that the groves in the under side of most of the plastic parts was clogged with food and debris. After a good scrubbing with water and a brush then reassembly it worked like a new washer again, cleaning the dishes very well and the best part is it saved us about $700.00 for another washer.

Kenmore Elite 17483 Dishwasher Caught Fire!

Had the exact same problem (Control panel burning up, sparking, and smoking during wash cycle) last night with our Kenmore Elite DW model 665.16293400 purchased Nov. 2004. I have reported it to the CPSC and www.kitchenaidfire.com and will be contacting Sears first thing tomorrow. It is outrageous that this problem is apparently so widespread with nothing being done about it! I have no doubt my kitchen would have been in flames if I had not been sitting right here to shut off power to the D/W.
