SOURCE: I need to find a cycling thermostat for a Dometic Roof top unit

I ran across the same problem and found the kit to expensive. I gutted the parts added a transformer, contactor and thermostat. Unit worked great and cost about half the price.

SOURCE: Rooftop RV Air Conditioner: temp outside 90 or above. compressor kicks off ....

It sounds like maybe an overload for the compressor is tripping and resetting once the compressor cools. Possibly due to a low charge.

SOURCE: CAR CONTINUES TOO RUN HOT

Try this.

With the engine cool remove the radiator cap. Now start the engine and let it warm up to the point where the thermostat opens. You can usually tell when this happens by checking the temperature of the upper radiator hose, and the coolant level in the radiator. It will start getting a lot hotter quickly when it does and the coolant level should drop.

While the engine is warming up, watch the coolant in the radiator for air bubbles. Fill up the radiator as needed while continuing to watch the coolant level. Having the radiator cap off while doing this allows the trapped air to escape more easily. If you do have a large air blockage then when the thermostat opens you should see a large drop in the coolant level. You want to keep the Radiator full. Once the air bubbles seem to have stopped you can replace the radiator cap.

You may have to repeat the process a couple times if there is a large amount of air trapped in multiple pockets.

A cracked head or block you can usually diagnose as there will be a lot of small bubbles coming out constantly while the engine is warming up, and even more bubbles if you rev the engine higher as the compressed air/fuel will be forced into the cooling system.

DOMETIC DUOTHERM KICKS THE BREAKER MAY RUN FOR A DAY OR MAY RUN FOR 8 HOURS BEFORE IT DOES IT IN MILD OR HOT WEATHER. ALREADY REPLACED BREAKER AND MADE SURE WIRES ARE TIGHTNED. HELP PLEASE.

If all appears OK, no noise, good cooling suggest check thermostat. If the thermostat is allowing the compressor to short cycle, restart under load the breaker would be expected to blow do to overloading the compressor.

There is usually a 5 minute time delay in the thermostat that prevents this.

Is it set to Centigrade instead of Fahrenheit? 32*C is the same as 90*F... pretty hot.

Does not heat real hot or cool real cold . dometic duotherm penguin markings on 85 or so unit

Heat real hot? Is this a heat pump or do you have a heat strip installed. Get a regular thermometer and put it in the outgoing vents of the unit. Register the temperature there and then the outside temp. If it is cooling at 17 to 23 degrees below ambient temperature, the manufacturer says this is fine. Try cleaning the condenser out on the top of the rv. Gently hose the rear condenser out until all the dirt and grime is removed the unit. Try cooling again and see if it is better.

AC comes on and stays on until you move the setting up to around 90. At times the unit will not cut off no matter what setting you choose. If it cuts off at 90 after manually moving it there, you only have...

If the house is actually cooling, but the thermostat thinks in 90 degrees in there, you definitely need a new thermostat. If the house is actually 90 degrees, the AC SHOULD cycle on and stay on till it reaches the preset temperature. Since it doesn't make sense that you would complain about the AC cycling on at 90 degrees, I can only conclude that you have a faulty thermostat.

My thermostat has to be set to 85 to get my trailer heat to 65 - when set to 90 I can reach 75. Could not find a contact to clean - wondering if there is something else I can try?

either replace the thermostat or if it is an old thermostat it has an antisipator setting if it is not digital it may have to be calibrated or it is to close to something that gives off heat so it is being tricked
