I cant install windows update. I get error 80240016.

first check the printer cable
then try to uninstall the printer driver
restart the laptop
try to install the driver again
print the test page

try resetting the sd chips if still no make sure hard drive is properly seated in computer if still no try starting with only one of the sd chips installed that does not work i recommend throwing it against a wall i like brick but thats me

Try reinstalling from scratch...remove all and install the oldest and update from there....if you have a problem then go back a step the last known working version.

Try unpluging memory DIMM's (one by one)

Do a windows update
are you getting any error messages

or did you install the windows yourself.
If so you need to reinstall
with cd in drive and restarting.
when did this all start

You Need To Boot From The XP CDrom...
Press Power Button To Boot, Hold Down F-12, Choose To Boot From CDROM, Go Through The Windows Setup Process, Remove Vista (delete it), then Format and Install XP...

Your 7520 can use the drivers from another acer model, for instance, try aspire 3000, or 5000 drivers.. or try another model...
If it's not the correct one, it will not install and throw up an error telling you it is incompatable and not going to install....

Are you using vista ?
How to rename the SoftwareDistribution folder in Vista -
1. Stop the Windows Update service (make sure you are logged on as an
Administrator)

Start button || Control Panel ||System and Maintenance ||Administrative
Tools
Double-click Services
(Provide the Administrator password or confirmation if prompted to do so.)
Right-click the Windows Update service and click Stop.

2. Click Start, type %windir% in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.

Locate and rename the SoftwareDistribution folder.

3. Start the Windows Update service

Start button || Control Panel ||System and Maintenance ||Administrative
Tools
Double-click Services
(Provide the Administrator password or confirmation if prompted to do so.)
Right-click the Windows Update service and click Start.

try this >> when you turn on your pc press f8 then choose "last known good configuration"
