To keep it short, that is the way most tvs are wired nowadays, so you are out of luck. You are limited even on Bluetooth connections to only two headphone sets. There are some ways around it though if your tv sound output is going to a decent receiver with its own speakers.

SOURCE: how do you mute tv but not headphones?

Look in your TV's menu options. I have an RCA TV which allows me to turn on (or off) the headphone port and set the volume of the headphones. Once you turn the headphone volume up, then you can turn the TV Volume all the way down with your TV remote while the headphone volume remains where you set it. Hope this works for you.

SOURCE: I can't get my wireless headphones to worl wiht my LG 42PG

Salutations Derek23,

Unfortunately that is correct, most newer televisions do not come with "Audio Out" or headphone jacks. Its almost assumed that you would be connecting the television to a receiver or audio source of some type that would have these types of connections.

Sorry to break the bad news.

SOURCE: audio from tv is not restored by turning off power on headphones

It sounds as if you are plugging the base into a standard headphone jack located on the Television set.

RCA Headphone jacks (incl mini) automatically stop the sound output to the main speakers on almost every set I have seen.. or home stereo.. etc etc

In other words you can take a standard RCA jack.. with nothing connected to it.. plug it in while the music or sound is coming out the main speaker.. and it will cut off the output to those speakers..

If you set has audio outputs on the back.. preferably Fixed Audio Out .. you will need to connect your base unit to those.. turn your set volume to 0 and adjust the headset volume using the control on the right ear-cup.

If you have variable audio out.. you will need to go into your TV sets setup menu.. turn off the speaker.. and turn up the set until you achieve a signal and decent volume through the headset.

If you are missing these connections.. your current “work around” is your only solution.

Best of luck

I can't get sound through my headphones on my Bravia kdl-52xbr5 tv. First time I have tried to hook up the headphones which are sharper image wireless

I take it the headphones are charged up and known to be in good working order? Are you using the 3.5mm headphone jack on the side of the TV or the white and red RCA jacks labeled AUDIO OUT (VAR/FIX)? If using the headphone jack the TV should shut off the internal speakers and output to the headphones. If using the mentioned RCA jacks you need to go into the audio options settings and set to Audio System. Also under audio settings, Audio Out, you can pick Fixed or Variable. If you opt for Fixed you will use the headphones to adjust the volume. If you opt for Variable you can control the headphone volume and muting using your TV remote control. Just make sure you have the headphone volume turned up adequately.

Sylvania wireless headphones

Instructions
1
Set up the transmitter. Wireless headphones rely on a transmitter that sends audio via infrared or radio waves to your headset. Use the digital audio output (coaxial or optical), RCA outputs (red and white) or headphone jack on your TV to connect the transmitter. The connection will depend upon which outputs are available on your TV and/or the transmitter.
2
Use an RCA-to-headphone adapter. If you don't have a headphone jack on your TV and the transmitter includes only a headphone connection, connect an RCA-to-female headphone connector. This will allow you to plug the wireless transmitter into the female headphone end and then hook the RCA ends into your television's audio outputs. You may also need a 3.5 mm (mini jack)-to-1/4-inch adapter if the headphone plug on the transmitter doesn't match the television jack.

3
Set the transmitter on top of, or next to, the television. For infrared transmitters, you'll need a direct path between the headphones and the transmitter. Placing the transmitter on or near the TV will allow you to take advantage of the clear path you already have.
4
Plug in the transmitter and turn it on. Charge the headphones if necessary.
5
Turn on the headphones. Adjust the volume and settings and you're ready to watch TV.

HW701 wireless headphones

Yup. If the headphones are driven by the TV, then turning down the TV turns down the headphones. Check to see if the TV has an audio output setting where you can select either the TV speakers or the headphone jack. What brand and model TV is it?

I have a LG 19LE3300 television and i whant to be able to connect an Infra red headphone while being able to listen by the speakers at the same time. actually when i connect the hearphone it disconnect...

Hi,
First you need to make a test to adjust your headphones wireless system..
.pls follow the step below:
  • "Connect the headphone base" TO " headphones output of TV" with 3.5mm stereo headphone jack cable (than Tv should mute ) Infra red headphone pilot lamp should flicker in parallel to voice coming from TV
  • Infra red headphone should have a rotary adjustment on it.. "Volume" adjustment
  • while TV talking , when you sit in front of the Infra red headphone (it works point-to-point ) you will hear the voice of TV, than adjust volume properly...Thats it..now lets go to second step..
  • Your headphone's Base should either "3.5mm stereo headphone jack" or "RCA Stereo jacks" or "bot"h..After completion of this test ,I recommend you to switch / use "RCA Audio output plugs-white/Red cable " on the back of TV instead of TV's headphone output ,since it mutes the whole sound..RCA output plugs of TV work independently from the TV's master volume control..of course you need RCA cable to connect this..
Hope this helps!..if more help requires pls let me know.
Take care and please

I just received for my birthday, a RCA 900 MHz headphones. Followed the instructions but cannot get it to work. I tried to install it on a Hitasha TV. Can you help me?

Hi,

.pls follow the step below:
  • "Connect the RCAheadphone base" TO " headphones output of TV" with 3.5mm stereo headphone jack cable (than Tv should mute ) RCA pilot lamp should flicker in parallel to voice coming from TV
  • RCA headphone should have 2 different rotary adjustment on it..one "Volume" and the second "Frequency" adjustment
  • while TV talking , adjust slowly the "frequency rotary dial" to catch the headphone transmitter coming from RCA headphone base, when you catch it you will hear the voice of TV,(sometimes fine adjustment makes it better ) than adjust volume properly..
  • .After this pls do not touch Frequency dial any more..Just Turn it on ,and Volume adjustment ..Thats it..

Adding remote control activated ''mute'' to TV headphone jack

Generally when the head phone jack is inserted the speakers will get disconnected automatically.

If you are going to use external amplifier you can try the AV sockets. Opening the TV you may require the special screw drivers some times.

Can't connect wireless stereo to sylvania 6620LF4

you can hook this particular unit up to your stereo reciever if available. if i am not mistaken the original design purpose of these headphones were to be powered through a stereo reciever, at least it is a sure fire way of keeping your tv's sound in tact and using the headphones when needed. most receivers have a speaker a and speaker b configuration if you attach the lead from the headphone unit to the opposing speaker input then you can have the functions you desire and the performance you have indicated. hopes this fixya.
Best regards
