SOURCE: Oil capacity for craftsman air compressor circa 1978 model #106..

I have a 2hp craftsman air compessor with a two cylinder pump, Here is the info from my manual as far as oil capacitity:

Remove oil fill plug and slowly add
a compressor oil until it is even with the
top of the oil fill hole. NOTE: Do not
allow oil to be lower than 3/8"
from the top at any time. When filling
the crankcase, the oil flows very slowly
into the pump. If the oil is added too
quickly, it will overflow and appear to
be full. NOTE: Crankcase oil capacity is
approximately 16 fluid ounces.

I buy my compessor oil from Lowes in the tool department. It comes in 16oz and sells for about $3. I wouldnt worry about how many ounces it holds but rather that the oil level is to top of filler hole. Lowes also sells a synthetic oil for about $7 and is recommended for severe conditions (hot / cold / used all day). Good Luck!

Craftsman compressors are model numbers starting with a 919.xxxxxx Find this number and look it up on searspartsdirect.com. Some manuals are available for viewing without purchase.

Need operators manual for a vao 5050 devilbiss air compressor?

Out of the bottom, condensation will gather at the lowest point. If you put the drain up high, the tank will fill with water and reduce the capacity of the reserve air.

Devilbiss 4hp 30 gallon air compressor wiring I

By safety valve you mean the tank overpressure release valve? Find the opening size in the tank first. Determine your compressors top psi it reaches when fully allowed to fill to max psi. Order valve that is rated ten psi more with that size fitting. Any brand will work, you just need that info and you can easily get one. It's hard to find exact parts for compressors but they are all basically the same setup

Devilbiss air compressor Running hot and low pressure

Chris:
Sounds to me like you have an air leak somewhere. When the compressor motor runs for too long a time, it's 'gonna get hot! Disconnect the fittings one at a time and use Teflon tape at each air connection. Check for leaks using a soap and water solution at each fitting.
